Is any gear from today going to be a classic?

Not sure about any amp makers, but some of the boutique guitar makers will be.

I truly believe that we are living in the second Golden Age of guitar. (the first obviously being the 50s) The level of lutherie that we are seeing today is unprecedented. In the past we have had Fender, Gibson, and to a much lesser extent Gretsch. Then came Hamer (yes they were *way* before PRS. Hamer pioneered the boutique guitar market) and after that PRS.

Now, there are a multitude of builders who are making absolutely impeccable instruments. I credit the internet for most of this. Luthiers like this have always existed but were limited in how many people they could attract. The refinement of CNC has also had a *huge* impact on the boutique market.
I agree, but we are actually in the 3rd Golden Age of Guitar because we can't dismiss the 1980's.

Absolutely! And I agree, the first was in the 50s.

Haha, the early 70s could beat the 80s up, any day

I like both, you cant dissmiss the 80's though, there was an assload of stuff going on..

PRE 2010 3-channel Rectifiers will be sought after in the future for the simple reason that they don't make them anymore. Once considered the worst rectos, in about 10 years they will start to be associated with voodoo and magic tones... :scared:

Agreed, but the 80s didn't see the sheer volume of great guitars we see today. Certain companies made exquisite guitars though...Hamer, PRS, Jackson and BC Rich come to mind.

I was just being silly. You know, like I do every second post or so

I totally dig GNR(80s band ?), and yes, the 80s was great!

Wow. The Mark V is already on the list of future classics huh?

The classic HiFi and old Bogen poweramps are what I own, sorry if I did not make that clear enough.
You can always tell my stuff, I never dust!!! ;)
And what an amp the Wizard is!!!
Your pic is real nice, and I save any pic of every amp guts evar posted that I think is nice.

Just about anything handmade or custom.

ALL Diezel amps (they may not still be in business, thus making them scarce) (and even if they are, they are still completely amazing sounding boutique amplifiers)

Marshall JVM ..in my opinion, a flagship!

Ibanez Jems, and Prestiges etc..

Anything vintage... naturally.

...this is only my 2 cents.

I love this thread...
