Is anyone happy with their gear?

I'm finally settling in on the big stuff...though I am still scanning for a few more BK pickups when I can gather the cash...maybe a nice Strat down the road...and oh yeah a phat 7 string would be cool. And now that you mention it, I would like to grab a Rhodes...damn you RigTalk!

I started to write a lengthy reply but I think it was too complex, so.... I did the whole tone chasing thing and it was very expensive and a big waste of time. I'm still going to be the same fumbly fingered hack job of a guitarist no matter what I play, the best gear in the world wouldnt help me there. I now focus on what I want to play and to hell what others think. :gethim: :D

To answer your question... Yes, I'm very happy with what I have. I don't believe when people say they are done buying. You may not have bought a guitar in 20 years or an amp in 10, but eventually something will come along that will make you feel like a giggly school boy/girl again.

Very happy.
My most "high end" guitar could use new frets (l like jumbos), but apart from that, I've settled.

I don't lust for anything, except a Les Paul Custom, but I'll never get one, it will stay a dream.

Thanks to Steve K... My Mojave Peacemaker is the bomb... however its really no longer a Peacemaker...Incredible cleans to Plexi in low input, or Similar voicing to a BE100 to CCV...My amp is not a clone of those amps, just happens to be able to dial in very similar tones..I have played a BE100, but not a CCV so just basing off the video clips.. Scumbacks... and loving the J80's pickups I just had installed today...

Very happy with my high gain tone, and I have guitars that I absolutely love that cover all my bases. I still am not satisfied with my clean tone, though. I've got a little Blackstar that has pretty fantastic clean, but no amp switching setup to work it in.

That doesn't mean that I don't randomly see a new guitar and go HOLY SHT TAKE MY MONEY NOW.

I don't think anyone is ever really done. At this point though, I'm pretty set with my powered Kemper running through my rack. It takes me 3 minutes to setup. I can run into the cab and FOH at the same time and it sounds amazing with the profiles I've worked on. I have one more piece for my setup which is a small watt tube thing as a backup........and then we will go with that until the next best things comes out. People all bang on the digital stuff but you see so many bands starting to run this way that it simply isn't going to go away.

That being said, I would love to get a Bogner XTC some day but at this point, I don't have a need for it.

I'm not certain what happened, but in the past year my GAS has significantly dropped. I have no desire for another guitar amp. There's some I'll grab if I come across a deal, but for the most, I'm content. I am still wanting a couple particular guitars, but the need for them isn't as strong as other guitars I've wanted in the past. I'm probably going to grab an 810 and decent bass amp of some sort this summer, but that's not a strong urge either, I'm holding off for a local deal.

I really have no idea what happened, but my GAS is basically dead. It feels so fantastic. I've actually stressed over buying/funding some items in the past, as dumb as that sounds. I don't like being so materialistic.

It probably has something to do with playing music more actively. I would substitute my lack of a stable band with having the 'perfect rig', and now that I'm playing out and doing some occasional touring, I focus more on the music. I play punk-derived music, so in reality tone means almost nothing on stage for me.

I'm playing a MKII Rockerverb.

Yup very happy with the two Friedman as well as my LP R8 and Petrucci BFR.

Lucked onto two killer amps I'm pretty happy about - a Diezel VH4 and a Mesa Road King - after dozens of tries with lots of other amps. An EQ here, and a BB pedal there, and there isn't a sound I can't find if I dig for it - and it's really heavy, but not yet digital. The AxeFX is for fx only until I get too feeble to carry the "real" stuff, or maybe until enough famous folks start using the Axe exclusively, or until I can't spend the 20 minutes I need to set up - I guess I'm not in that much of a hurry. PRS Custom 24 and an Ibanez AT100 model. Just two more lessons so I can get that barre chord down...

Been playing for about 27 years and since day one I've had GAS. Didn't help that my dad played guitar so the first amp he bought me was a $200 Fender Twin Reverb that I picked up at pawn shop and sold for $600 after I cleaned it up. That opened the door for me to buy a bunch of pedals and another Fender Twin at another pawn shop for $200. Since then I've gone through a ton of gear in terms of amps, cabs, guitars, pedals, racks, cables in search for my holy grail tone but I think it's more than that.

What it comes down for me is that GAS does a few things: 1) Makes me feel like I'm a "serious" guitarist who's serious about his tone and that I'm on top of what's out there; 2) Easier to justify spending the money on gear over partying, chicks and/or non-essential material things; 3) Occupies my free time and makes me feel connected to a community; and 4) helps fulfill that side of me that needs to fix and solve problems as I'm always looking for a better way, more efficient (i.e. lighter with limited number of trips to the car) or creative way to get my tone with the flexibility that I think I need.

I had a friend tell me that I have a unique distinguishable style and she help me realize that my style is independent of the gear I have. It does make me feel more confident when I'm playing my gear but regardless of the gear, I eventually get comfortable with whatever guitar, amp or pedal I'm playing with and my style comes out. So getting a marginally better sounding rig or one that has every imaginable tone for flexibility sake is of less importance to me (at this point)

After going through the huge racks, multiple amps and complex pedal board set ups, I just need a good clean tube amp, a few pedals and a switching system. Some of my favorite guitarist have a good and basic amp/pedalboard platform to play off of but what makes them great is their style, approach, technique and musical knowledge/experience. So yes, I'm happy with my gear and focusing on the things that have made my guitar idols great.

Disclaimer: I was a psych major in college so I over analyze everything but thought I would share in case it helps anyone with this painfully fun disease.

Go to the classifieds, and you will see who is actually happy with their gear :)

One thing about GAS....when I feel like I'm in a rut, a new piece of gear (even something as simple as a new OD) can really stimulate. Sometimes it's enough to really push me out of the rut and reignite the flame.

We so often discus the gear that we are lusting for... So I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone is actually happy with their gear...So who is completely good with their gear?

Me.

Happy with the gear, not happy with the limited amount of time I get to play with it.

Very happy with my setup. Heritage H150->Boogie Mark 4.

I'm happy with my Cameron Aldrich Marshalls through JCM800 cabs w/65's. Got my first one 7-8 years ago and loved it.

Thrilled w/ the rig.

I'm satisfied with the rig that I use for my classic rock gig. CS Strat into a small volto powered board. Board has an Xotic SL Drive, EP Boost, and a HOF mini into a 65 Amps Ventura. Amazing and highly portable rig that really brings the tone.

I'm satisfied with the hair metal tribute band rig until we get to a gig. It's just always a battle with guitars amps and pedals. Last gig was with the SLO and went well. Needs a few tweaks yet.

I'm pretty stoked with my gear. Loving my EVH 5150 III amp and cabinet. My tone has come a long ways. I usually play my Schecter Hellraiser with it. That guitar is amazing. My favorite ATM!
