So I've recently joined a new band.. A cover band of course (where the money's at whet I come from). And recently I've been looking hardcore at the lower wattage amps you know the Tweaker, Tiny Terror, Blackstar, Vox you know...
So I've been just using our bass players Mesa Roadster on the orange channel with about mid gain. (I know Mesa is for Hard rock/metal) but to me the Mesa has a good sound by itself. I think it's a 6l6 thing. But when I'd go into a solo or something it just lacks feel and a good smoothness to it..
But since I liked 6l6s I thought the tweaker 40 would be a good amp to look into and I played it and liked it by myself..
Having said that my bass player recently bought one of the Vox Ac4 combos and so for shits and gigs we run it thru the Mesa 4x12 and whoa! Cranked that little bastard everugung to 11 and it had a good sound, a good feel. Just need a tad more gain and you can't really EQ out the bass and low mids on it unfortunately but it cut well and sounded good.
So I've been searching for something with more gain and a loop wit a better EQ
I'm liking what I'm hearing from the folks at Jet City now..
So I'm thinking of going with the JCA22h and a nice 2x12 with either a pair Of H30's or V30's
And I'll prolly have to change out the tubes to tame the noise a bit...
I'm thinking the el84s will cut better and with the added gain on tap the feel will be better.
I'm intrigued more of the Jet City over the blackstar because of the preamp sections.. But good tone is good tone.
Anyone out there own the jca22h wanna chime in?!

I have a tweaker original 15 watter head

I also had a JCa20 head.

the tweaker hands down kills the jc20.

I had my Jet City modded with everything. and the tweaker still was better. sounded more full, less fizz.

Really? See I played the tweaker 15 but I wasn't fully impressed.. The tweaker 40 was more impressive I guess cuz of the 2 channels..
I could honestly see ur point playing by yourself maybe but the el84s I think sounded better in the mix..
Do you use it live?

the tweaker sit in the mix way better.

I used the tweaker and JC live as back ups to my Laboga studio reverb.

out of the box the JC has a ton of fizzy highs. my cabs only have V30s in them. Dont know if that maks a difference

my buddy bought the tweaker 80, and thats a great sound amp. never tried the 40.

JCA22H into a 2 x 12 and whatever FX you want in the loop should take you through most any gig, especially mic'ed. You can get a fake wall of Marshalls if you're playing a Stadium...
