It was a GOTOH Floyd, and IMO just as good if not better than an actual Floyd Rose.

The Floyd Rose on my 2001 EBMM Axis guitar was a GOTOH and it was every bit as good as any of my original Floyd Roses and possibly slightly better. I can't say that about the Floyd on either the EVH striped or Charvel MIM Floyd Rose which I think were the Korean 1000 models. The 1000s don't totally suck but they are definitely a step down in quality below the original or Gotoh.

For sure. All their MIM's are the 1000, even the EVH branded. And, I think they're usable, but definitely a step down from a German or Japan. Always have wonky fine tuners hard to turn, locked up, or just cheap feeling.

I tried to order one a few years ago when Sweetwater was supposed to get them....apparently Peavey shined them and they never got any. I'm still interested but at the price point, I'm not so sure.

I bought mine from Sweetwater, but I ordered one as soon as I heard that they were making them. So, I was first on the list and got a black one which I traded away about 6 months ago.

Sounded great but had both build issues and cosmetic flaws.

Yes, it was $1599, but I hear the new ones are much better made.

TOTALLY. The GOTOHs on my two Axis guitars are by far my favorites.
