I just picked up this early 70's 2x15 Fender cabinet for a good deal. It has CTS speakers in it that are in great shape but wondering if there is a 15 speaker that will work with guitar and bass guitar. I would use it for guitar and my daughter is starting to play bass.

A couple of EVs would work. And they won’t blow up with bass rumbling through them.

This. My 2C+ Coliseum combo has a 15 EVM, 400w. That'll take anything you throw at it.

Would 15L’s from the 80’s be good? Found a pair of them for sale, they look in good shape and never been re-coned

Peavey Scorpion speakers do it well. My buddy swears by them.

EV is the definitive IMO. Eminence has cloned a lot of speakers and the 12" heavy magnet beta is decent, but IMO No EV. Don't know if they do a 15" though.

yes this is what I have been told for years also

Huh. I may look for a peavey scorpion 15".

I have a Celestion 15" fullback in a cab now that I love, but I sure as hell would not run a bass through it. Lol.

He acquired these two huge old Peavey 2x15 cabs for a wink and a handshake a long time ago, one had the Scorpions and one had the Scorpion Plus speakers in it. He's ran guitars and basses through them a shit ton. He had a collection of Sunn Beta Leads at one point. He recently blew one of them up, and went on to replace them with the same thing.

If you are going to try them, get the Scorpion Plus speakers. I think that's all they make now anyways, but they have a little more beef.
