Is this CS Fender Strat worth $4,160?

Cool guitar, wouldn't pay anywhere near that for it though.

OK, more stirring the pot threads. I love it.

Playing the devil's advocate here, regardless whether anyone likes it or wouldn't pay that much for it, you got to understand how they arrive at pricing. If the normal NOS CS Strat runs in the 3's, then you should be able to do a bit of math on a bar napkin and figure out that a guitar tech had to spend at least 20-30 hours on the relic process for the body and neck. It isn't done on a CNC machine. Those man-hours add up and add to the price. Cool guitar, but I wouldn't buy it. However, it is priced more than fair.

With that said, you should buy two of them Bryan.

No. Get a Luxxtone or Nash for Kline or used team build Strat or...

That is really cool. But Cage's approach suits me fine- Find myself a great player and kick that fucker around in the street. I think I'd look at this the same way I looked at the SLO topic. I wouldn't say it's not worth it. I just know it's not for me right now.

DAMN those pics are huge. Probably why you just posted a link, eh?

Nope. IMO the CS's are $1800 guitars. Even the CS Jeff Beck is $3800 or so. Insane. Fender keeps raising the prices

Meh.

I'd rather buy a normal CS Strat, save a grand and relic it my damn self by playing the fuck out of it!

At least I could play metal heavier than Priest, Maiden, or Sabbath with it. I couldn't imagine paying that much for a piece of gear only to be limited to that level of metal!

Can you really put a price on all that "mojo"? :jerkit:

On a more serious note, I'm not a fan of relics but they aren't a deal breaker for me if the guitar plays and sounds like I want it to. My experience with Nash guitars is that most of them play and sound like a good "Fender" should...I highly recommend them.

I see what you're saying but Nash can do the same thing and put out an equal or better guitar for half the price...and I've played enough of each to say that with confidence. I think it's more a product of high overhead (corporate payroll, facilities, marketing/advertising, etc) than 20-30 hours of relic work.

It is worth whatever soneone is willing to pay. These are all over ebay for about the same price. I don't get the relic thing as I would rather beat the hell out of it myself. Shit, I ding my guitars just taking them in and out of the case.

I agree on the Nash if you want a beatup looking guitar that plays like an old one. I just can't see paying for that look. Strats are hit and miss more than any others in my opinion.

True. I just picked a starting price out of the air for a Fender CS to tack the additional man hours required for the relic.

The Fender CS doesn't seem to be hurting, so it must be worth it to somebody! I think it looks pretty cool, myself...

Luxxtone all the way!!!

+1

I like relic finishes but not this one. Too much for me. I like the way Luxxtone does theirs and love the headstock too.
