Is this SL2H messed up?

I'm thinking about buying this Jackson SL2H but I noticed that the HIGH E looks really close to the binding....especially when compared to the LOW E.

Also, notice how the high strings do not align with the pickup poles....maybe those arent F spaced pickups?

I thought it might be the angle of the camera but in every pick the high e looks to be too close to the binding...almost like if your finger/string will slip off the neck when fretting/playing.

What do you think?

Really need a straight on shot from the Floyd up to the 22nd fret or so. I know that some Jackson Floyds where slightly off angle causing your very issue. Need better photo to be sure.

I was going to say that it's most likely a bridge that needs some adjustment, but look at the locking nut...it looks like the high E string is too close to the edge of the fretboard, even at the nut! I'd guess that it's either a bad camera angle that shows the high E so far towards the treble side of the fretboard, and the low E so far away from the edge of the fretboard.

If it's not a strange camera angle, I'm guessing the stock hardware was replaced with the wrong hardware. I can't remember if Jacksons had "F Spacing" or not, but I'd ask the owner of the hardware was replaced at some point, and if so, ask for the original hardware to be included with the guitar.

Don't think it's replaced. I've turned away far too many USA Jackson's with the same issue. Pretty sure the trem cavity is routed slightly off. Huge Jackson fan but sadly this is one reason that I got away from Jackson with Floyd's.

I've had three SL2H's and they all had huge problems with the bridge positioning *. Looking at pics on the net there seems to be more offset floyds than not. I'm trying to find a great Soloist myself (mahogany) but so far every one I've considered has failed this test.

* Two had strings way misaligned on the fretboard, like the OP guitar, one had the bridge on straight, but the route was way off (bridge rubbed the bass side) and it was too much forward to intonate.

I think you are right.. I have a select that is perfect. Maybe I got lucky

I have a sl2 mah... the high e string is fine, no playing issues

It's a relatively easy fix if it is a bolt-on neck because you can adjust the neck in the cavity. With a neck thru, about the only thing you can do is go from an R4 nut to an R3 as the R3 is slightly shorter in length. That said, I wouldn't deal with headache if it were me.

Sadly, I had a Jackson soloist that had this problem. I ordered it custom, but ended up selling it since the high E was way too close to the side. Really pissed me off.
