Looking to purchase one, but not sure which model or version to get...Decimator, Decimator II, Decimator II G String, etc.

I run an EVH 5150 III 100 watt played with EMG loaded guitars. My signal is guitar straight into amp. Looking to kill feedback but still retain harmonic feedback and natural note decay.

Also, should I place it between the guitar and input of the amp, or place it into the effects loop?

THANKS!

or decimator in loop, or decimator II in loop. Best pedal ever, don't leave home w/o it!

I have the basic decimator pedal. Works great....tone is the same with it on or off. Still gets decent feedback for me with it on....no loop for me as I don't have an amp with one..2205 does but I still run in front.

+1

I use a basic Decimator just before my amp in the signal chain. Keep it around -40 dB, and play away! Seriously a great pedal, a big improvement over my Boss NS-2.

I have many decimators for each amp....I swear by the Rack Version G,,,

G-String will give you best results as far as notes not cutting off, just because of the way it works.

I didn't notice much difference between the G-String II and first generation.

I have recently stopped using my loop, so i sold off my G-String and got a Decimator II, which works really well in front to control feedback and at lower settings has no cut-off issue. Still get Preamp hiss due to nothing in the loop, but it's manageable.

I keep mine in the front of the amp because it likes to mess with my delay when I have the effect volume turned down. I only use it as an effect these days but I used to have it on all the time in my last band. They are so fucking great.

You guys almost convinced me to get one of these...

But with the new model v2 G-String, is it possible to use the pedal in front of amp AND in the loop, as it has 2 separate gate loops ???
As there is only on gate level pot, I wonder if this double usage would ever work...

If anyone had tried this please let me know, I am about to pull the trigger...

Thanks.

I used a G-string for years. Version II works the same as the original G-String, but has some enhancements.

It works very well. You go through the loop and the front with it, so you get noise reduction after the preamp and also will keep your guitar from squealing. It works very very well. The two inputs work in conjunction with each other in some way, so it's a bit easier to control over the normal Decimator. I really liked that setup. Do it.

Unfortunately, i just sold both of my G-Strings a couple days ago, otherwise, i could have given you a good deal.

Any thoughts on the new Decimator II pedal vs the original ? My amp has zero preamp hiss even with the gain dimed (I don't dime it, just an example) so I've no need for the G string or rack version. I had then sold the original Decimator pedal a few years back. Worked well but now thinking of the updated version to quelch some feedback due to the absurd volumes I've been playing at lately.

I couldn't tell the difference between the G-String II and original G-String. I guess i could set the II a bit lower. I think the real power with the II, is connecting them with the little leads... which you do not need to do in your situation.

I have a regular Decimator II now and have owned the original regular one before. Same thing, you can set it a bit lower.
