Ooh.. dude.. talk to Gxrbusa. He has two of them, and an aweosme amp collection.

I'm really gassing for something like a 212+115 cab or a 212 and 2x15 full stack configuration. Not to have BR00TZ low end, just to have a nice, full lower midrange with some nice percussive lows to it. :)

thats exactly what the 2x12/1x15 cabs do. they don't add much bottom, they add more lower mids.

i have a bunch of the randall 125 cabs (2x12 and 1x15 in each cab). i really like them. but without the built in crossover that the isp sub has, both the 12's and the 15's are getting the same signal.

i can honestly say that if i had to chose, i'd take the sub and 4x12 cab over the warhead style stack or the randall 125 cabs any day of the week. if i didn't like running 4-5 heads at once, and didn't love standing in front of a wall of speakers, i'd sell the randall cabs and stick with the sub and 4x12.

I wonder how much difference there is between the subs and say a EVM Black Label in a theile cab?

I use to run a 2x10 bass cab with an acoustic and it was amazing. There are no rules.

Well you don't have a crossover in the theile? I don't know what that is...a theile......

It's a ported cab design. With the Black Labels or even regular EVM 12Ls the low end is massive, clear and tight. I can't imagine needing more. But no crossover.

It would be interesting to hear the ISP, but at $1,500 a pop, and me running a stereo W/D/W rig, that be a lot to haul. I'd like to hear it with a 2x12 though.

a sub does not need to be stereo. since it's unidirectional, you only need one, and it can be put on either channel.

yeah, the initial $1400 pop is what is scaring people off. i got mine at cost plus shipping, but if it was broken or stolen i'd sell whatever i needed to get another one.

if these were in more stores for people to try out, and the price point could be brought down to around 800, they would sell like hot cakes. i have seen a few go for 600-700 on ebay. should have bough one as a spare.

it's actually a brilliant design, and buck waller (rocktron founder) at i.s.p is a brilliant guy. the crossover is what really makes this unit shine.

I wouldn't run stereo subs. But having a sub and cab for dry, and then 2 stereo cabs is a lot. We are an ISP dealer, maybe I can get them to send one to check out and set up a rig at the shop with one so people can hear them.

Do you need the 600 Watt 115? I've got the 300 watt 112 and it's damn good. I used to have a 115........I paid under 900 for the 112...I've used the 112 in a band situation and it still kicked ass.......

You should do that.........I bet you and Rob will love it......it kills with everything.......I've used it with a ton of stuff.....it sounds great with the Axe-FX.....

"need" is a relative term.

i must admit, almost everything in my set up is overkill. no one needs more than 1 head and a single 4x12. in reality, you really don't need any more than a combo these days. but i wanted the rig i dreamed about when i was a kid. and if your gonna do that, no sense in going halfway.

and the corpse rears his ugly head....  whats up Brother?

lots o good info here, may be something I'm gonna have to try eventually.

BTW RC, I'll text ya later once I get settled at work. ;)

Yeah it was more directed at Shark Diver as he was talking about the 1500 bones.....the 600 watt 115 is great no question and if you can get that then go for it. I loved mine......just giving some love to the 112 300 watt I have had for 2 years now.......it has not let me down... :)

rivera made one also. might be able to find one of them as well.

I had a rack rig with a Marshall 9100. I ran a 4x12 and a bass 4x10 at the same time (not stereo fx). I kept the bass cab a little softer in volume than the guitar cab, and it kept the bottom end tighter, and of course 8 speakers made more ooomph than 4 anyway.

As long as the guitar is tuned regular, you`re hard pressed to really compete with the bass guitar. Physics say that an instrument tuned an octave lower than the other will yield deeper frequenzies. If you tune to F# or something, there will be a conflict. Then the bassist should tweak his amp to approcimate more of the middle spectrum, and add a little overdirve to be heard.

The only bassist in metal I`ve heard that manages to get heard with a completely clean bass sound, is Alex Brewster in Cannibal Corpse.. SLudge riffs galore, but the bass is still punchy :)

Why thank you sir, You guys have described the subs well. Adds another dimention, 3D ish thump. For me, it allows more mid range to come through my 4X12's and allow the sub to handle the lows. I feel it bridges the gap, somewhat, between bass and guitar. Don't get the wrong idea, it will never replace bass guitar. Playing in a band it rounds out the mix and just adds a wholesome goodness that needs to be experienced to believe. You can also mic the sub or in my case I have XLR out to the board. I don't think it records well, a great live/practice tool. If both of mine ended up missing I would kill all of you to get another :codeak:  :D
