Israel now requiring orthodox jews to serve in military

Just goes to show you, the ultra secular jews do not reproduce so they big mad that religious orthodox sons go to yeshiva and study talmud all day long instead of help leveling gaza. This ought to go over like a lead balloon for the morons running Israel. It's a long time contentious issue.

Also interesting to note is the revelation that they used an AI system, nicknamed Lavender, to auto generate kill lists for hamas officials and fighters. It was considered allowable to kill 15 or 20 non combatants, women, children, while air striking hamas members. Oh you're apartment was next door and your kids are dead? Too bad for you.

Finally what I find amazing coming from both sides is the amount of propaganda being pushed. Pretty clear everyone is gearing up for WWIII. I can 100 percent say that in the last year Israel has lost any respect I had for them as a nation. Many of their own do not respect the Israeli govenment. They are run by bigger dirtbags than the people running the US. Thanks for listening.

The Haredim (Ultra Orthodox) were granted examption from military service when Israel was re-established. Back then there were only 20,000 of them, so it was no big deal. Now there are over 1 million and and many of them live on government benefits. Non-Haredim Israelis are pissed off that their taxes support them and they won't fight while non-Haredim Israelis are required to be in the military. The prevailing attitude is "My child has to fight, so the Haredim should also have to fight." I'd be angry at them, too. Some of the Haredim are talking about leaving Israel. If they won't defend their own country, then fuck them. Leave! Also, it's not just "ultra secular" Jews that are angry at the Haredim, not by a long shot. I have Israeli friends that are Orthodox (not Ultra Orthodox) and they are mighty pissed off about the situation. Resentment among other religious Jews (Orthodox, Conservative and Reform as well as smaller movements) and secular Jews has been brewing for decades over this issue.

It was no big deal at that time except the haredim, as you noted, follow the first commandment in the bible to be fruitful, so they have large numbers of young people while the aging secular population does not, so it's def been a hot topic getting hotter that became newsworthy here since around 2010 (or at least that's when I heard about it).

They feel that studying Talmud all day is also protecting their nation. I can't really get on board with a draft to supply bodies to deal with gaza. To me that's not an excuse for a draft. But welcome to a socialist nation where everybody is required to serve in the armed forces or serve in law enforcement!!!!

Ultra orthodox don't really lay down for anybody on the talmud-religious studies deal so I think the government is creating more problems than it will solve. What I would agree on is kicking their asses off welfare since they aren't interested in physically defending the state they live in. They shouldn't get state benefits. That might change things. They actually do this stuff in the US, sopping up welfare and just studying their talmud all day. Look up Williamsburg NY
