I have to give you the backstory….

My friend Paul Bronson, who I met back in about 1987, was a guitar player in my other friends band ALISTER CROWLEY. Paul was a great guitar player. And we became good friends over the years. We went to NAMM in Nashville together. We went to concerts together. He was a great guy.

He was a HUGE FAN of the rock band Raven!!! HUGE!!! #1 Fan!! Raven had Thanksgiving Day dinner at his house one year!!!! Yeah….huge fan!!! And they loved Paul just as much too!!!

I was Paul’s guitar broker and guitar tech. Paul called me up one day and said….. “He man. Can you pick me up this black ESP telecaster like this one that Mark Gallagher plays!!!!???” So I did. And then we end up going to see Raven in Detroit a few months later and he had Mark Gallagher sign it!!! It was one of his prized possessions!!!!

Paul passed away on September 8th.

Fast forward to yesterday. 12/6. I’m browsing through facebook marketplace, and I see Paul’s ESP tele for sale, about 20 miles away!!! I message the guy and asked him where he got it. Come to find out that the guy was a “storage unit buyer” and had evidently bought an old storage unit that Paul had rented before he died.

I explained to the guy that Paul and I were good friends and shared some photos and history, just so he didn’t think I was full of sh**. One of the pics I sent, Paul was wearing is prized denim vest with all of his RAVEN patches. The guy says “I have that vest here too!” I couldn’t believe it.

So we met up today and I was able to get Paul’s jacket and his tele back, due to the kindness of the guy who bought Paul’s storage unit.

I feel very fortunate to have a couple of things from my old friend Paul…it was like it was meant to be.

It’s funny how life happens sometimes….

Great story. My condolences for your loss bro.

Good friends and music, everything we need in life.

It's fated and no one else would do better in taking care of the items.

THANKS FELLAS!!!!

He was a great guy. And a really good cook too. I really miss the old days when he was in Crowley. I would go to their practices, hang out, smoke, drink, headbang. Lol. Ohhhh the good ol days!!!!!

That's a great story Brent! I'm sorry for the loss of your friend! 🙏

In a way you having his guitar it will continue to make music after his passing and is a way to keep a part of your friend alive.

I inherited my best friend's 50 watt Marshall back in 2007 after he passed away tragically and I have kept that amp in tip top shape since and it still roars to this day, it was a favorite of of SGT Thump's at out St Louis Ampfest a few weeks back.

Every time I play it I look up towards the sky and tell my friend Jim..........."It still sounds awesome my brother!"

So did the storage unit guy give you your friends stuff or did he try to extort big money from you?
