Hey guys,
So Thursday night I was browsing Kijiji casually as I often do, just checking it out to see if there was anything cool or interesting up for sale. I've bought a Suhr Modern, a USA Charvel San Dimas and a Diamond Compressor this month - so I really wasn't looking to buy anything else per se.. However, out of the blue I caught a VERY recently posted ad for what looked like a snow white ESP Eclipse II. I scanned the ad and saw that it had undergone a solid but really haphazard looking headstock repair, but otherwise was stock and was for all intents and purposes, a MIJ Eclipse II loaded with EMGs. I then saw his asking price and this statement:
"... it's not the prettiest looking headstock repair but it's solid and the guitar plays like new. That's the reason I'm selling this $2000 guitar for $250."
Yes, you read that right. A Japanese made ESP Eclipse II in excellent condition other than the headstock repair, loaded with EMG 81/60 pickups and TonePros/Gotoh hardware for $250 CAD.
I said to myself that I was just nuts for even considering buying another guitar, and my father of course thought I was criminally insane for considering ANOTHER dual humbucker loaded ax, but I drained out every last dollar from the ol' bank account and brought it home today. It's definitely got a cool vibe to it that will work well for some dropped tuned stuff and the EMG pickups add another flavour to my collection that I don't really have in any of my other guitars.
Here are some quick n' shitty pics I grabbed before my camera died:
and a shot of the headstock repair from the front...
Cheers,
Will.
