It's been a while since I've posted here so I'd thought I share some recordings of my latest amp, the Splawn Nitro. I really love this amp. It's got a massive percussive sound to it. Darker, more saturated and bigger sounding than the Quickrod but still very tight and articulate. On to the clippage:

Nitro w/ KT77s - Breate Life
Nitro w/ KT77s - Original Drop C Riffs
Nitro w/ KT77s - Old School In Flames
Nitro w/ KT77s - Heart of Darkness
Nitro w/ SED EL34s - A Vulgar Picture
Nitro w/ SED EL34s - Hourglass

Please excuse the sub-par production. I am no recording expert. All clips are done with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, no effects, no post production. Enjoy!

Your clips and playing kick ass man. I was listening to them the other night. Keep them coming!

thanks J.B. i plan on doing another recording this coming up weekend with a friend. stay tuned for some nitro/cob clippage =)

sounds good, maybe needs to have a little more bite on them. Your a damn good player

Hey, tell me the differences between your two cabs. I have the Gov/Mow in my cab...just wondering how the BB's/SB's sound in comparison

thanks lord toneking. i've had several people tell me the eq needs a bit more bite. i agree. for most of thse clips, the EQ is set pretty much at noon. it also has to do with my mic'ing technique. i need to stop doing off axis positioning i think. i'm having someone help me with my next recording so i hope to get better results.

as far as the Gov/MoW vs BB/SB comparison. The block speakers are more neutral in the mids. They have an earlier break up and they give a real nice thick and warm type of saturation. They sound a bit boomier in my opinion but I think that's just in comparison to the eminence speakers, which have more emphasis on the mids and thus are very punchy and come off as very tight. When comparing the two cabs side by side, the block speakers sound a bit more scooped just because of those neutral mids as opposed to the really prevelany mids in the eminence speakers. The blocks also seem to have a more sparkly high end. One thing I have to add is that the block speakers take a long time to break in, more so than the eminence cab. Both are great. It's just a matter of preference. I personally like a lot of mids for that real strong punch. The block cab has a real big thick sound to it that is also really nice. I really like running the two cabs together to get the best of both worlds. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions about the cabs.

i may also try to do some more splawn clips comparing the two cabs now that my big block/small block cab is starting to really break in finally.

Wow.

Excellent playing and awesome tone! I really like the sound on the KT77 clips, but it seems you're using =SED= EL34s now. How would you compare the two?

thanks man. i actually forgot to update my sig. it's fixed now. i'm actually running the kt77s in the nitro. i've found that the amp is overall more responsive, percussiveness and just feels right with the kt77s. these were the tubes that the amp was designed around and i can see why. the el34s sounded great but the saturation of the nitro's preamp works really well with the tight, big low end the kt77s in a way that just brings the amp alive. the el34s are great for bringing in some of that mid crunch but i'm going to use the quickrod to get that sound. i've learned to trust scott's judgment and his amp designs so i'm sticking with kt77s in the nitro and el34s in the quickrod once it arrives.
