It's been asked 11-d billion times but fave od/booster?

Definitely the BB Preamp from Xotic. My OD/Boost quest ended as soon as I plugged one into my setup. It's very transparent and articulate even with a TON of gain.

I've only tried about 10 pedals, but so far:

TS-like boost only better = BBE Green Screamer
..next notch up the ladder on the same thing = HBE Power Screamer (hey it's got a footswitchable boost and diode options)

Xotic BB pre-amp is a completely different thing from the above two IMO...but I like it for it's transparency/articulation under high gain.

I use an Xotic BB Preamp to boost channel 2 on my Mark IV. Really needed the bass cut and treble addition, as well as some meaty gain! I keep my EQ in at all time.....of course...in Classic V pattern.

Krankshaft, because I work for Krank.

Fixed. :D

But seriously, my vote goes to my LordOvChaos Modded OD808.

I have a special "space ship" version of the Bodenhamer Bloody Murder OD.

used an mxr micro amp from 79 till last year when it died
picked up a fulltone ocd, and have to say that it is even better, but.........
I now simply switch between masters on my JVM for solo boosts and am
VERY happy with the tone.
the boost is more for getting that little bit more out of clean modes of the amp or my VM or JMP playing blues or things like that.

Wow........I think I counted 21 different people that used something different so far.......crazy...

Yup, it's like "What's your favorite ice cream?" Everyone has their own preference, and there's always at least one guy who's gotta tell you you're wrong cuz you like mint chocolate chip. :aww: :scared:

That's what I hate and love about overdrive/boost pedals is that there are SO MANY options. It can be mind blowing. However it means that if you don't like what you have, there is probably something out there that will make you happy.

I like my tubescreamers that I've modded to 808 specs and did a op amp stacking mod. I also like the Green Screamer - it's my favorite one out of the box, but I don't like it as well as my modded tubescreamers - I might have to bust into that one too  !

Boss SD-1 ? (Actually maybe not since yngzaklynch already mentioned the Keeley mod)

My favorite so far is the TC electronic Booster + Line Driver & Distortion in boost mode.

any fans of the fulltone ocd?

Yes, I have a version 3 that I like quite a bit. I was using it as my main od for a while, set up mainly as a clean boost with a tiny bit of drive thrown in. I also have a Boss OD-3 which is another great od pedal. Neither of them have gotten much use since I got the TC Electronic though.

Has anyone tried the Homebrew Electronics Uno Mos - Mosfet Boost Pedal? Thoughts?

This site has a demo, http://www.proguitarshop.com/product.php?ProductID=929&CategoryID= Sounds pretty good to me.

The MXR MC401 CAE Boost / Line Driver sounds great too, here's a demo,
http://www.proguitarshop.com/product.php?ProductID=525&CategoryID=15 Sounds pretty good too.

Both of the above are priced nicely. I have an old MXR Micro Amp somewhere, purchased new in the late '70s [ early '80s probably rusted to s***.

FWIW, I ordered an EH English Muff'n. Liked what I heard, guess I'll see...should be here in a few days.

I have tried many....Keeley, Maxon, Ibanez, Boss.....I can't see me ever giving up the BB Preamp. It is very awesome. I also own a v.4 OCD. Like it, but it has more of a Marshall/bite vibe going. Good for chords/ Lynch stuff. I like both.
