But I think I just might have to.

Found a good deal on CL a couple hours away on a Bogner 4x12 to go with my 20th ann. XTC head. I contact the guy to get a few more photos which he balked at, saying its mint and based on the photo in the ad I'm relatively ok with that. I was already good with his price so I wasnt even going to beat him up or haggle at all. We agree to meet in the middle and try to figure out availability. The two times hes available this weekend are during working hours tomorrow or early Sunday morning which I unfortunately cant do. Instead of trying to figure out alternatives he just says "then come get it here". Maybe I'm being a whinging little bitch but I'm trying to give the guy hard cash for something he supposedly wants to sell and from my end he doesnt seem too interested in making a sale happen. Now I'm thinking of walking away. There are a couple other Bogner's on regional CL that are little closer for a bit more money but perhaps it's worth it to not deal with a dickhead... /end rant.

If I had something for sale that was mint and a very low price I wouldn't be going out of my way to make a special delivery, just saying.

Now I would have certainly sent more pictures but I wouldn't be going out of my way to deliver or change my schedule.

Understood, but no one is asking for anyone to go out of their way and make a schedule change, simply more willingness to work on meeting up than "come get it here". Is that too much?

Tell him...."Consider it sold" and then pick it up whenever you get around to it

....and yes OP, you're being WAY touchy about the whole thing.

Not hard for me.

40 years of gear has taught me that i must be willing to walk away if its not right.

Also for everything i walk away from there will be 10 more just like it or better come my way.

This is a good point but sometimes you find the deal of a lifetime that you won't find again? If the deal is that good, jump on it or miss out.

it gets easier when you have kids.

gear is just a tool anyways. playing fun shows with good friends is more fun.

would that cab really have made playing that much more fun?

Yes if its a must have i can beg, borrow or hock my way into it. Problem is i have really killer stuff now so the GAS is pretty low.

Well from my perspective, cash is universally accepted and desired, cabs on the other hand, not so much. It's far easier for me to find something else to spend my cash on than for him to find a buyer for 75lbs of something useless by itself. He offered the item for sale, I didn't seek him out and ask him to sell me his precious, so I figure its on him...

Consensus appears that I'm the bitch... i'm ok with that. This bitch still has cash for pickle juice and hotdog water...

He probably doesn't need he money, but would prefer it gone.

No one called you a bitch, it's just that he gave you two times to meet which you can't make; at that point, I'd tell you to come pick it up, as well.

Whenever I'm thee gear purchaser, I always assume I'm going to the seller's place...IF we can meet in the middle or something it's always just a nice bonus.

The restraining order helps or at least to stay 500yrds away

Buy it or don't......seller owes you nothing other than honoring the price you agree on & the item being in the condition he describes. He perhaps could have provided a couple more pics, but you're obviously not too bothered by that.

Simply a case of buyer wants item more than seller cares to sell it.......

If I were selling my Bogner 4x12, I wouldn't travel far at all to deliver or meet up. While it's not the rarest cab in the world, it is relatively uncommon in the used market, especially at reasonable prices and local.
Most likely someone with a bogner cab doesn't necessarily need the $, he just doesn't want the cab anymore, so I could see why he's potentially not wanting to mess around and figure all of the scheduling and where to meet stuff out.
As you said, you're the one with the cash and can do whatever you want with the cash, but how many other Bogner cabs are in your local market for a similar price in similar condition? I see maybe 1-2 a year at most in my local market and I live in a decent sized city, and close to an even bigger city. Not only that, but of those they aren't even typically one I would want to buy.

This. I have a line on a G12 65 cab, trying to get him to come a bit my way, but if he doesn't I'm cool with it.

Usually you GO to the store to buy something. Meeting halfway or any compromise on location is a bonus and speaks to the sellers desire. The seller is just saying it's here and juSt come and get it when your schedule allows. The onus is on YOU to get the thing YOU want. And vice versa, if the seller is highly motivated to get cash, they will make every effort to get cash. Maybe this cat is lazy..he wants to sell but doesn't want to run around and do a dance just to sell it?

this. nail on head.

however you could also weigh thge emotions attached to HAVING the cab versus the emotions attached to the AWKWARD interaction and decide which is more inportant to you. it is obvious this is all about emotion, if the cab is available and the right price then there is no obstacle other than you.

There are currently 4 within a 2 hour radius from my home. 1 uberkab, 1 straight, and 2 slants and a few 212s as well. This one is the cheapest 412 but also farthest away...

This has been an interesting discussion for me because I've always been in the camp of doing what it takes to make the sale or trade happen once we have agreed to price/items. I dont change my schedule or ask anyone to change their schedule to make things happen but I at least propose all available options within reason. I've done a ton of deals over the years and driven a lot further for some of them, had to plan out a couple weeks to make them happen etc. But never had anyone buying or selling just shut off after 3 emails. No harm no foul just a strange dealing experience for me.

Ok,imagine this....from the sellers point of view.

I'm gonna wrestle a heavy 4x12 into my truck(or worse yet,my car), and drive to HOPEFULLY meet up with someone from Craigslist and hope they are not one of the thousands of flakes that never show every day.

Nah...screw that. Come get from me. It's an awesome cab,if you don't wanna come get it someone else will.
