Don't know if the bound board on the EJ is a deal breaker or not...I've got some color photos of the EJ's on the way, I'll post em' up unless somebody has access to them now and do it sooner.

I always laugh when guitarists are referred to as "heroes" or some hyped up shit like that. I personally know 3 - what I would call heroes - and they lost life and limb protecting us from possible catastrophic events here in the USA 10's of 1000's of miles away from family and friends for more than 16 months, straight.

Anyway, I digress, a little. EJ is definitely a bad ass, but "The man with the best ear in the business..." that's a bit bold, blanketed and well, just plain marchitecture hype.

I'll be seeing EJ up close and personal a week from this coming Sunday; I'll make sure to ask him to validate these words between sets – PSYCH!

I’m sure it will be a good Strat…whatever manifestation it becomes.

In all honesty, can anyone really make a 100% sure judgment every time they hear a record if the song is recorded with a maple, ebony or rosewood fretboard? If so, they really shouldn`t be doing what they do.. They should be working with something that implies hearing stuff

Deal breaker for me, I do not like the feel of binding as I would rather have rolled edges. For my style of playing rw is my least favorite board wood, I like somnething more slippery.

Rosewood or Maple, still sounds great when this guy's at the helm. Here he is with a 63' Lake Placid Blue strat on the 91 tour.

Cool, but I agree with most about not digging the binding.

Rosewood/maple...I'm good if it's a quality piece of wood, rosewood or maple.
Those cheaper guitars with the dried up, lighter colored rosewood boards are nasty. There is excellent rosewood and very bad rosewood.
I used to be a maple only fretboard guy for many years, but for some reason now I have only one maple fretboard guitar...all the rest are rosewood.
