Its Official...The Engl Savage 120 is being discontinued

Well another forum member mentioned this the other day in an Engl thread, and I was in disbelief so I contacted Engl.

It is official, the Engl Savage 120 is going to be discontinued. No indication was made as to how many they have in stock , but once the current stock of them is gone, they're gone. I asked about the possible release of a Savage 120 II, and they said they were very hopeful that a Savage II may be in the future but no design is currently in the pot.

I heard about this awhile ago, but hoped it was a rumor. I might have to pick up another.

I wonder why though? Parts harder to get? Lack of sales?

My guess is probably lack of sales? So many amps out there these days. While the Savage 120 is a great amp, and in its current configuration I wouldn't change much at all, it has been around relatively unchanged for a long time. People seem to flock to an amp any time there's something new or re-vised, so maybe they figure if they drop the current model, tweak it, re-name it and re-release it, sales will spike. IDK....just a thought.

Considering how long the Savage has been around and considering they re-released the FB, PB, Invader etc, I'll bet a re-release of the Savage 120 will probably occur. Just hope if it is re-released that it maintains its core tone and its hyper fast response.

You've heard me say it more than once dude, but for metal it just really is something to behold when your sitting in front of one. So tight, articulate, and immediate in its response.

I've been playing some heavy Hendrixy blues type riffs through my Rebel Yell loaded LP on Ch1 crunch mode lately, and it just fuckin rips. VERY dynamic with thick screaming sustain.

I really need check out a Savage. One of my all time favorite tones was my budget rack of Peavey Classic 120/120 and E530. The 530 was supposedly, like the Blackmore, BASED on the Savage.

They'll still be available for a while I'd imagine. Still a lot of stores with them in stock and I'm sure Engl is still sitting on a bunch. On top of that they always seem to pop up on the used market. I bought mine used.

Sounds pretty good across the spectrum here... nice to see a manufacturer get decent recorded tones out of an amp too!

Some great tight note separation here. Vinnie Moore used these for a while (or ENGL anyway) and this guy's playing at the end kind of reminded me of the way Moore plays.

Note seperation is superb on the Svage 120. Even when playing balls out metal rhythms with a higher gain setting and high levels of saturation.
