@VonBonfire A good way to put this is with a story. I had a massive bouncer choking out one of my friends one time. I knew the guy and didnt want it to come to blows between the two of us, so I told him I would take my friend and leave, but he needed to stop with the choking.

Luckily, he relented. As we were walking outside another bouncer followed us out there. Guy looked like hercules. My other friend starts mouthing off to that guy.... And dude starts running at him like a pitbull.

I jumped in front and stopped the guy before he could reach my friend and gave him some calming words. Luckily, he also relented.

When i got my friends out of there, I explained how fucking stupid both of them were for trying to fight absolute monsters.

The point was, I had their back enough to keep them from getting their asses kicked. But they were in the wrong and needed to be told it.
