Did someone give it to you or were you like "I want this" and bought it for yourself?
My mom had some their albums in her car so I was aware of them, my older brother introduced me to Columbia House records, and I started playing guitar all about the same year, it was a perfect storm of new music.

It was the kinks, AC/DC Ballbreaker and Van Halen 1 as my first order

Listen to the bends and ok computer. Ok computer has amazing songs, and the production is flat out incredible. Listen to the drums on that album! I don’t like their first album, and after ok computer there is some good stuff, but every song on ok computer is great.

Oh I have many times. Ok computer is among the best productions I’ve heard. Just nothing ever stuck with me but maybe I’m coming around. Maybe Tool still has a chance at coming around with me but probably not lol

Hey you are awake! Did you have a fine time last night?

I agree with you Raceu4her, I think the Kinks are underrated for the energy they brought and their place in rock history. Foreigner had some great tones!

As far as Radiohead, I think they were a great band (we covered "Creep" back in the day. If you are like me, I shy away from bands they they are popular to the masses and revisit later. I used to despise the Dave Matthews band until my wife played me some non-hits and went to a show last year. Amazing musicianship and great jams. Was one of the best shows I've been to and recognized like two songs.

Deep Purple is underrated and never get I cluded in convos like Sabbath or Zeppelin but we're out there at the same time. Short of Smoke on the Water and Highway Star, most people don't know who they are. Their entire catalog is amazing. I have every CD (got it free from my buddy when his friend passed). So many gems that are not hits.

I agree with deep purple as well. Now, when i say "underrated" i mean more in terms of being discussed in forums and on youtube and wherever amongst musicians than a broad general thing, im sure i could put on 99.1 right now and the kinks or deep purple are playing. i dont remember the last time i saw Foreigner discussed anywhere, and watching their vids now rocking les pauls into marshalls with the production they had i gotta question why

OH BOY I CAN'T WAIT TO TALK ABOUT MORE OVERRATED RADIO MUSIC

THIS TYPE OF MUSIC DEFINITELY DOESN'T GET TALKED ABOUT ENOUGH

HOW ABOUT ANOTHER "ONE TIME EVH TOOK A PIPING HOT SHIT ON MY FACE OH HELL YEAH BORTHER" THREAD
Amen

lol, people talking about their underrated bands that were all giants and selling out venues in their day…give me a break. Just because a band that sold thousands of tickets and a few 100,000 to a few million records from the late 60’s to the early 70’s isn’t getting talked about on forums or YouTube today, they’re underrated? I guess Louis Armstrong and Muddy Waters are underrated too. Minor threat and Bad Brains are some of the most respected and revered punk and hardcore bands of all time..All fucking time. They’re as underrated as AC/DC. People keep confusing underrated with under paid and even then most of the bands mentioned got rich. Deep Purple, underrated….Christ.

I want to like to Tool myself ..... but ..... like Pearl Jam for me .... after the first album .... me no listen ... I even went to a Tool show ..... the lead singer kind of hiding in the shadows was just friggin weird ... ( I found out after it's kind of his " thing " )

They transitioned really well into better produced records in the 80’s. It got bigger and slicker but still retained the fire and energy.

Radiohead should be underrated. Yuck. Almost as disgusting as a strawberry kiwi slurpee. Late to the game corporate alternative. Missing a package tour with Creed, Nickelback, and Radiohead would be a great way to save money and avoid seeing three shitty bands all in one swoop.

Dude *what*?

Comparing Radiohead to Creed and Nickelback shows that you’re completely unfamiliar with their music outside of Creep.

One of the only bands I can think of whose music has gotten better and better over the decades. Though I wouldn’t call them underrated as they’re also one of the only bands who can still sell out arenas every time they tour, all while only having ONE song that’s ever been played on the radio from 30 years ago.
