Always loved Saga. Ian’s guitar playing/style is so unique. Very good player.

When we first got cable back in the early 80's I remember Sagas on the loose being the first MTV video I'd ever seen, Loved it and still do.

About 15 years ago a buddy told me he was opening for Saga at a local club. I told him I'd go and to save me some tix. When I picked up the tix I realized I had mis-heard him - he was opening for Saxon. Fuck was that a disappointing show. LOL

I agree. And he makes it look effortless.

1981 was a banner year for Canadian hard rock / AOR rock:

  • Saga (Worlds Apart)
    Loverboy (Get Lucky)
April Wine (Nature of the Beast)
    Rush (Moving Pictures)
    Triumph (Allied Forces)

...probably more I’m forgetting!

Love it!!!
In the gene pools of Asia. Lover boy.
That style of rock was sooooo good!!

Sega? Aww yeah... That sh*t was great! Loved me some "Sonic the Hedgehog" back in the day. Huh, what? Saga? WTF?! Never mind.

^lol .Funny.

Is it just me or was the lead vox rushed throughout that first clip?

It's like he couldn't wait to get each phrase out. Kudos to the band for not taking the bait and maintaining the pace where it was meant to be.

I was the Sonic king. Now that my son plays it, I'm relegated to court jester, at best.

I need a saga.... what's the saga? It's songs for the deaf... you can't even hear it!

There are very few guitar players now that sound the way they did back then. Back then, the guitar tone was punchy and crisp. Probably old Marshall plus pedals. Now, the tone is gained out, and not punchy. Still a killer player though.

Saga was on the radio constantly back in '81-'83 - my college years.

Amazing player! Great band! thank goodness the white camel toe pants are not in use. LOL
