They're pricey, but I can't imagine the hundreds of dollars I would have saved if I just bought these a long time ago.

I've tried every Celestion (outside of the Blue and Gold), Eminence (you name it), Weber (1230, 1225, 1265, Silver Bell), Scumback (H75), and WGS (all of the British Series !). As well as every combo of the speakers above that you can imagine.

For whatever reason, these just "work" with my setup and put out the sound I have been chasing for a long time. I was extremely disappointed with the WGS ET-65 so I was a bit leary (too nasally/honky). Wasn't blown away by the Weber 1265 either (too flat sounding). Straight out of the box, these have none of that nonsense. I can only imagine they will get better as they break in. I'm glad I can finally put this chase to bed. Cheers for the 12-65

congrats =0

i'm so used to vintage 30s together with the other gear components that i have to stick with them

tried greenbacks but at higher volumes didn't work for me, heard some amazing things from a modded/magnetised g12h30 speaker , but not sure about dropping that kind of coin for a speaker at this stage

the rivera video comparing the 15 speakers haunted me for a while, started hearing the same lick playing over and over again all over the place

the evm12-L i think might just be 'the' speaker for me, but again have to try it in person, i keep coming back to v30s,

Congrats!!

Interestingly enough, my preference lies with Alnico Golds and now, my newfound adoration for P50E's.

Old school rola's are sweetass though, nicely done

Cool. I have a cab loaded with those (Originals from '81) and have recently re-fallen in love with them.

Welcome to the club! Very easy speakers to like, especially if you are pairing them with something that has a Marshall like voicing or mid emphasis.

Awesome. Are those reissues ?

I was cranking my reissues last night and do these speakers ever sing ! The playing feel is effortless. Then I plugged into my original G12-80s and they put up more of a fight with a more bludgeoning feel.

My tone is G12-80s for the nastiest vomit inducing rhythm crunch and G12-65s for sweet buttery leads !

Congrats on finding your speakers. Just curious is you still have the WGS ET-65's to do a head to head comparison?

I have the ET-65's and really like them. I like them better than the Weber 1265 I had, but I haven't tried any of the Celestion G12-65's. Those and the G12-80's I would really like to try at some point.

I just picked up a new quad of the ET-65's and find the speaker to be fizzy at low volumes compared to the 12h-30's in another cab I have. Thw 12h-30 are broke in though.

Does this fizzy characteristic go away when the ET-65's break in?

The amp is a high gain Marshall similar to a SLO.

Another ET-65 owner said he was dissappointed with them until they broke in.

I didn't find the ET-65's fizzy at all, even new out of the box. They actually don't sound as different from the celestion CL80's they replaced as I thought they might. They have less lows than the CL80's and less highs, but more mids, overall they are smoother too. I am running mine in a Marshall 2556AV 212 cab with a Marshall 2553 Silver jubilee.

I didn't do a direct A/B, but I had the ET-65's in the same cab about 2 months ago. I didn't find them fizzy, but they honked at me like an old Model T. Maybe I didn't break them in long enough but I blasted a Kyuss disc through them for 12 hours before loading them up! They also seemed kind of congested to me...like they didn't want to translate what was happening on the fretboard. These Celestion reissues sound like a much different speaker to me. Then again, I've read people who prefer the ET-65's.

K100, P50E, Jaguars, for me....

V30/75 mix is nice as well in the right cab.

G12 65's are the best speakers ever made...period
I have you to thank for letting me hear them. When I heard your 65 loaded cab years ago, I thought it sounded great. When the right chance came up to get some, I did, and I have not looked back. I have em loaded in my Bogner cubes and 2x12, along with my Avatar 2x12, and JC Iso cab. After typing this, I think I may have to let go of my Avatar with the 65's. Overload!!!

oh yeah...another convert! I have to give props to psychodave for bring his 65 loaded cab over my place years back.

It was love at first chord :inlove:

Damn..I like the ET-65s (actually have 'em mixed with a pair of Green Berets) but now you got me wondering if I can get something better :-)

Cool. My '82 65s were my main speakers for almost 15 years and loved them. I've bought and sold 4 or 5 other quads in the last few years, but they seem to be a little inconsistent. I read somewhere they had several different versions in the few years they originally made them.

Similar tastes - nicely done Braddah!!

K100's are tits if you've got the horsepower behind them

Nice.....................I've been thinking about getting a pair of these to run with my Marshall JCM 800. Would it sound good?

I have a mint condition Mesa/Boogie 4x12 closed-back straight Stiletto cab, with a quartet of V30s. Would it be worth trading it in for a pair of these speakers?

Was never a big fan of the 65's when I had 80's 4x12's in the early 90's. Were always a little too smooth and I wanted raw and heavy. I much prefer 25's, even for heavy stuff or if I need super tight the Classic 80's.
