I've never seen a LP Studio with binding before

This popped up on my FB Marketplace about an hour and 15 minutes from me. I've never seen a Studio with binding before. He says it's a 95, and someone put Sperzels on it, rewired with new pots, ebony board and original pickups.

Any Les Paul experts have any insight?

Would have to see a lot closer pics to be able to tell if it is legit.

If there's a studio with binding out there, shit where has this been my whole life

Seems someone in the past apparently probably did a REALLY good job of taping off the body and doing natural binding...or it's a refinish with "binding" added.

It looks pretty nice, right on.

It's still a studio, which means it might be totally amazing or completely shit, so it mostly depends on what they're asking

If it's a decent price and plays well i'd rock the shit out of it

There have been limited and dealer orders with binding, but the giveaway that this is not one of them is there is no neck binding. The simplest answer is the correct one, imo. This is scraped like guitup too implied.

I tried finding a 1995 Catalog to see color options for the year and can't find one. I've really only ever seen black and wine red Studios. Stuff they can probably buy by the tanker load for their entry level line lol

That was a super weird year. I had a studio lite from 1995 that was HSH, 2 controls, a five way, with a blue front and purple back/neck. It likely is a 95 given the ebony fingerboard, imo.

I feel like 800 for a studio is a good deal, given today's market.
Love the scraped and finished binding, think that's pretty cool.

I may go check it out, but gonna get the serial first. I doubt anyone's faking Studios lol

It comes with a little battery powered amp, so I'll be able to check to make sure the electronics work. Otherwise, I'll have eyeball the neck to see if I notice any warping/twisting, then just gonna play and bend notes all the way up the board to make sure there are no high frets. Wouldn't wanna be buying a guitar that immediately needs fret work.

I know they made a "Custom Studio" with binding...but they were older than 95.
Yeah, those were in the early 80's - like '83-'85. I think they were early runs, (and very rare), as they were developing the studio. They later dropped the binding and flash, and of course it was stripped down. That's definitely somebody's handy work at creating a natural binding from the maple top.
