I've realized I'm just a Strat guy

After acquiring the PRS Custom 24 I posted a few days ago I found out tonight that I just hate the way it plays! I spent quite a while tonight setting it up and it just doesn't work for me. Ive had other PRS guitars 2 of them singlecuts that I liked but not as much as the Strats I have. I like the hot pickups in it but the fretboard just doesn't work for me. I guess this is a good thing because Strats and Charvels are a lot cheaper and for me they just play so much better!

Fair enough. :)

I don't particularly like PRS guitars either. I much prefer Strats to them.

it took me along while to figure this out as well, I feel in love with a 7.5 radius and want to try a crazy radius of 7.5-12, anyways i just need that snap/twang in rythm playing it sounds so amazing in a mix to me.

I have never really been knocked out by a PRS. I feel more comfortable on a strat or LP than a PRS. I guess I really just don't dig the sound they are going for.

I dislike non-strat style bodies, but I feel I should have at least 1 LP for "that" sound.

I've been gassing for a Les Paul for a while.

No need to apologize or anything, Strats fucking RULE!

Happiness is a warm Stratocaster.

I right with ya Bro!!
If its not a strat shape......
I dont play it.
I have owned every shape guitar under the sun.
But always come back to my Super strats!

Strats are ok, as long as they have humbuckers in them.

I love strats, but I'm so used to humbuckers and like a guitar to be for everything, it'd have to be HSS or HH.

I've been gassing for a MIM Deluxe HSS fat strat for ages, they're so cheap!

You're insane. That rude and "in your face" tone of a good single coil is awesome.

totally can understand that. I end up getting rid of every other body shape eventually. V's, Explorers, Firebirds, Stars and now I have two Mockingbirds that I'm getting rid of. The strat shape body just fits my body like a glove. I'm not too keen on stock s-s-s strats but is hard to argue the strat shape has been the coolest shape since 1954 and still just as cool :)

Isn't it incredible to think about how much cars, clothes, and home styles have changed since 1954...

Yet the Strat is virtually the same as it was in 1954, and STILL looks awesome.

That still baffles my mind.

the guitars i use the most are strats or superstrats. every once in a while i use a tele copy i've got. a strat with a 12" radius is my workhorse though. i've got an older low end charvel that i've souped up. i like that a bunch too.. but it has a compound radius.

yeah, you know i realised that too. i mean, i've got a PRS and a musicman, but after so many years of playing humbucker loaded trem guitars i felt something was missing. mothing sounds like a strat, nothing is as blank a canvas but yet so characterful as a strat. i kinda think SC's are a more grown up versatile pickup in so many ways. humbuckers are great, but so in your face, sometimes lacking subtlety. I love my HB guitars and i do love my PRS, but i play my jap 62 strat more than my other guitars costing twice the price. nothing is as much fun, or feels right like it does.

Humbuckers.

Thinking about it, I have one LP and SG, everything else is a strat body. The only 'real' strat just got some Lollars in it a few weeks ago. There is something sweet about that strat blues and cleanish that I don't get out of anything else. Maple fingerboard 91 strat. The guitar that sits on the couch next to me and my little Zinky Velvet for practicing after work or anytime my mother in law is on the phone...

JTM-45 I played a few weeks ago was with this 91 Lollar strat. Hypnotic good sound waves..... A different feel and tone than a split humbucker can get. HB's are excellent for what they do, but sometimes you gotta have that overwound single coil.

(Insert stupid comparison here)

More like humbucker = automatic transmission and single coil = manual transmission. You might have to work a bit harder with a single coil, but the tone that comes out is absolutely glorious.

I am a strat guy too. That's what I started on and what is just what feels the most comfortable to me. I like playing other guitars though, but always come back to my strats.
