Here we go, another pet peeve of mine, selling on Reverb..

People that send lowball offers via messaging, when you don't have the "make an offer" feature enabled. If I'm at rock-bottom, I don't take offers. I pretty much price to move when it comes to small shit, (pedals, mostly).

So, I like to tell them I'll enable it, and encourage them to then make the offer. Then I DECLINE IT. HAHA fuckers..

Don’t you just love it when your item has like 1,000 views and 25 watchers, but no offers? I hate reverb. I use eBay most of the time now. I get some solid offers and the shipping is way cheaper on eBay.

Especially when your item is 25% below market value and the cheapest listed, by far. Yeah, then people "watch", to see if you'll donate it.

Now, I unloaded the Gibson Explorer I bought last week, (long story), and it sold in less than two hours. I had the "make an offer" enabled, the buyer added to cart and swooped it right up! Didn't even make an offer. He got it Monday, and was happier than a retard at Chuck E Cheese, and left wonderful feedback. Go figure!

I listed a Sterling Petrucci a few weeks back, and it sold same day as well. I've had pretty good luck lately, there's just always a douche out there to make things a chore at times.

I also like the ones who list stuff with no description, and say "see (shitty) pics for condition" that show absolutely nothing. Or better yet, they detail damage in the description, and list 10 pictures, but none of them showing said damage.

That's a bitch move hahaha

I’ve had an amp on there for about a month. Several offers through messages wanting a side deal. One guy finally made an offer after lowballing. I accepted the offer, he paid by e-check, then got mad and cancelled his payment cuz I wouldn’t ship before payment cleared. Do they think we’re that stupid?

The worst thing for me is when someone spells something wrong or doesn't put enough work into their post. I'm like, you seriously were in that big of a hurry that you put "Gibpsom Les Paal" or some crap? Or "Guitar comes with strings". That stuff irritates me so much that I'd never buy something. It just makes me wonder about the person's character and if they are that lazy about every aspect of their life. I think "what if they did something to the inside of the guitar?" or "are the pickups the right ones?", etc.

I get trying to negotiate, but some of the low ball offers can be crazy. I'm selling a $2000 amp, open to some offers, but don't offer me $900.... Lol whatever, I just refuse them.

I had a guy offer me $580 for a $1600 PRS... Followed by the "I can pay immediately", and "thank you for your consideration".

If I don't have make an offer selected I'm happy to see what someone wants to offer. Doesn't mean I have to respond. When they send me a second after I ignored the first, I reply that I deliberately didn't check "offers accepted" so that I don't have to waste time replying to offers. Granted I'm only snarky like that if the offer is stupid. If reasonable you'll get a reasonable response and maybe we can do business.

I just had some asshole price bitching at me after declining his lowball offer of less then half of what I wanted. I looked up some other listings and priced it accordingly.
His excuse was that he bought one new in 2000 and thats what he paid then so what I want now is too much.
Like dude... What you paid 20 years ago has nothing to do with what the current market is like. Either you want it or not. Move the fuck on.
Im resonable and I get wanting to get a good deal. But come on. You're not gonna harass me into accepting less then what I think is fair, even after explaining my reasoning to you, just because you dont wanna pay what I want.
I so bad wanna just reply with "fuck off"

One of my favorites is "missing a sting".

Exactly, half those fools don't want to sell anything. They only list to see their gear to impress themselves.

Tell you what, I sold 4 or 5 high(ish) ticket items on Reverb this winter and I'm so glad I made it through without going insane. I had one dude offer me $500 for an Archon 100 in excellent shape that I listed for $1200. I called him out on it and he said "sorry, no offense intended, just wanted to try with the cash I have on me at the moment."

Nonetheless, I was able to sell everything at basically asking price minus about 5% in wiggle room. It just took a lot of patience and a willingness to let things sit for months!

I consider any offer that is 20% or more below asking to be a lowball, so as a buyer if 20% off isn't good enough for me then I'll just wait or pass. Fuck Reverb, but the sumbitch gets the job done.

It's hard not to take it personally, but don't take it personally...

On a positive note, I sold a USA Charvel in Slime Green to this younger guy years ago for a great deal. I mean it still looked brand new. I meet him and he shows up with his girlfriend. When I took the guitar out to show him, he was so excited that I thought he was going to break down and start crying. He was smiling ear-to-ear and his girlfriend was smiling just watching how he was gushing about it. He kept thanking me over and over and how great it is, his dream guitar, etc.

This was on Craigslist, which also can be a disaster, but was great to not have a pain in the butt situation for once.

Awesome man, great story!

Years ago I had a cherry burst Les Paul up for sale. One guy reaches out with a super low ball offer: "hey, I saw your guitar, I'm acually into lemon bursts but if you drop your price by 50% I may consider it".

Another guy living on the other side of the country proposed I take a train to meet him halfway so he could try my guitar before buying.
