The worst thing for me is when someone spells something wrong or doesn't put enough work into their post. I'm like, you seriously were in that big of a hurry that you put "Gibpsom Les Paal" or some crap? Or "Guitar comes with strings". That stuff irritates me so much that I'd never buy something. It just makes me wonder about the person's character and if they are that lazy about every aspect of their life. I think "what if they did something to the inside of the guitar?" or "are the pickups the right ones?", etc.
ADD much ? :D

There are those of us who really suck at typing. I can read over something 5 times then go back a day later and find mis spellings

I get trying to negotiate, but some of the low ball offers can be crazy. I'm selling a $2000 amp, open to some offers, but don't offer me $900.... Lol whatever, I just refuse them.

I had a guy offer me $580 for a $1600 PRS... Followed by the "I can pay immediately", and "thank you for your consideration".

Yea that's like the guys of CL who say" I can pay in cash". Gee really, I was thinking I would have to take dog poop but if you're paying cash, of course, you can have it for $1

I just had some asshole price bitching at me after declining his lowball offer of less then half of what I wanted. I looked up some other listings and priced it accordingly.
His excuse was that he bought one new in 2000 and thats what he paid then so what I want now is too much.
Like dude... What you paid 20 years ago has nothing to do with what the current market is like. Either you want it or not. Move the fuck on.
Im resonable and I get wanting to get a good deal. But come on. You're not gonna harass me into accepting less then what I think is fair, even after explaining my reasoning to you, just because you dont wanna pay what I want.
I so bad wanna just reply with "fuck off"

Yea, I've had people tell me I saw one yesterday for $300 less . I tell them go buy it.

I never understood the cash thing either. How else are you gonna buy it? I've taken paypal before, but only as gift, which is the same as cash maybe easier.

I guess you miss all the shots you don't take. I had a guy lowball me like crazy on CL over a $200 guitar. I don't even respond. I put it up on Facebook Marketplace for $150 and sure enough he messages me. "What's the bottom line?" then asking for a case, to which I offer him an Ibanez hardshell for $50. Nope he clearly wants one for free. Then we agree to meet in 30m. "I'll be in the black Corvette".. "Do you have the trem arm?".. "Well?".. "Do you have it?!".. Told him no as he can't wait 3 minutes for a reply. "Well guitar center has them for $25 and it's a 3 pack (or whatever he said). What are we going to do about this?" I just say "Not meet up" and block him. Not worth it for a dude in a corvette to nickel and dime me over a $150 guitar.

Just had one go something like this (I was asking $299+$49 shippping conus, no offers):
"I only have $350, after tax that's $378.45, can you come down $23.45."
<no response>
"Sorry, 28.xx?"
<no response>
I would buy it right now.
<no response>
Ah fuck it.
<I get the "Your item has sold!" email.>

Regarding cash, with options like Zelle available I can see people wanting to use that but I can understand people only taking cash too.

Man
I've had made many great deals with buyers and sellers on both Reverb and Ebay.
I take the high road when someone responds with nonsense and state I appreciate their offer but I cannot go that low. I actually got cool with a guy that offered me super low. He couldn't afford what I had but wanted it so badly. I can't blame people like him for trying.
I just ignore the other crap that goes on. No time for that bs.

Me too and I agree with the high road part for sure. I always try to be polite regardless, the only reason I didn't respond above is because I was waiting to see if a R/T inquiry really wanted it (and he only waited like 2 hours).

On a positive note, I sold a USA Charvel in Slime Green to this younger guy years ago for a great deal. I mean it still looked brand new. I meet him and he shows up with his girlfriend. When I took the guitar out to show him, he was so excited that I thought he was going to break down and start crying. He was smiling ear-to-ear and his girlfriend was smiling just watching how he was gushing about it. He kept thanking me over and over and how great it is, his dream guitar, etc.
I had this as well with a young dude buying my Engl SE head. After a whole slew of low-ball offers, some joker even offered $500...on a $4k head?! :confused: Sure, the going used price here is more in the $1200-1500 range, but not effing $500. Even though I got fed up with the BS, but since the amp wasn't eating bread or using toiletpaper, I stuck to my minimum price that I wanted for it.
So finally the young dude puts in an offer $200 below my asking price; I said 'let's meet in the middle pricewise' (which ended up at my minimum price anyway) and he agreed. :thumbsup:

He came by the house (this was months pre-C19, mind you) and I explained all the functions to him, while playing myself, showcasing the different tones and where its strengths and weaknesses lie.
I can do a mean amp demo apparently, because when I asked him "do you want to try it out with your guitar?", he was all grins like a kid in a candystore and said "Nah man, I got the jest of it. I'll take it!" :rock:
