For fuck sake, why did they move the bridge forward on the 24 fret dinky?

Long story short, building a superstart, got a real nice Jackson 24 fret neck, won't work on my 87 Kramer Pacer Classic body.

For fucks sake.

I had a few CS Dinky Strats (90's) so I can only answer to the CS Models and not the off the shelf models built today . . . .

For a 24-fret Jackson Custom Shop Dinky (or Soloist), the bridge is physically positioned closer to the neck than on a 22-fret counterpart, and the neck pickup is shifted even closer to the bridge to accommodate the fretboard extension.

Relocating the Bridge: Because a 24-fret neck stretches physically closer to the bridge, the bridge route must be relocated toward the neck to allow the saddles to intonate properly at the exact doubled scale length.

Thanks for the information.

I have pieced together many guitars and this is the first time I have run into this. Live and learn I guess.

Any other companies do this?

Only Warmouth make a true "Drop in" replacement for a strat type body. Of course, Ebay has a lot of 24 fret - 25.5 in scale neck but 99.9% of them would require cutting to custom fit the neck pocket. Lots of room for error there. I purchased the body from Warmouth as well to avoid any issues. Worked like a champ and has never given me any issues. The guitar is set up in Bb and plays beautifuly 35 years later. Keep in mind, what I paid for the set in 1990's was a far cry from todays prices.

On another note, you could cut the neck pocked deeper into the body so thas the 12 fret sits exactly at 25.5" from the nut to 12th and saddles to the 12th. With the right tools this wouldn't be impossible. This is assuming also that the neck doesn't already have mounting holes that might catch the screws going into the neck at correct position. I've run into this before and had to use mounting screws with bushings.

If you have the patience and experience and just want that neck on that guitar (I know the feeling all too well) you just have to make sure you do it right or it's firewood.
