Simply awesome.

Who donated that thing? :dunno:

Angry ex-wife?

I actually had a similar situation. Make it short:

Knew a girl in my college class. Boyfriend issues. I pick up an Angus SG (older version) for $100

I wonder if it could have been made for Robbin Crosby of Ratt? He used the Jackson Firebirds regularly, and a US made guitar in '88 would have been right in line with his popularity.

Doubtful. Most all of his are accounted for. Kurt Dudley would probably know though.

Super SUPER cool axe though. That's a left-nutter fo'sho'. (As in I'd give...)

I'm %100 sure that's japanese
Do tell. They didn't even make Japanese Jacksons in the 80's and I've never seen a neck-thru Japanese Firebird. If it has a "J" SN its US made.

Well, they did make japanese jacksons in the 80s. For the Japanese market. And they had the jackson logo like this guitar with no 'made in usa' on the headstock. BUT there were some USA's made without the 'made in usa' on the headstock. The 'J' would tell us if it was a USA, but yeah, there were 80s Japanese Jacksons out there.

Pete
I thought those didn't start until '90? Were they done in conjunction with the Charvel Model Series or were they their own thing?

The "no made in USA" thing is uncommon yet not unheard of...I've seen several like that over the years.

Got the guitar today. Has what looks like original strings on it. Great News, It does have the "Made in USA" on the peghead, the tuners block out a bit but its there. Really cool guitar, patina'd out to yellow like a Randy Rhodes Les Paul Custom. Really cool guitar, dropped it off to be cleaned and set up by my tech. Will post up this weekend when done. Thanks for the all the help and comments.

A Custom Shop one-off, priceless! Nice score. I want to be you when I grow up.

At a NAMM in the late 90's I saw a Firebird at the Jackson Booth. All natural mahogany but with a much more rounded neck than Jackson usually has. It was amazing. I would love to get one like it with the fatter neck it had. Just could never afford the Custom Shop pricing.

I hear ya! A buddy of mine purchased a Neck-Thru Soloist from the Custom Shop back in 88, Snakeskin paint, a Floyd, Push/Pull Pots and back then it ran close to $2300 US. It looked nice and all but I could never bond with it. Palm mutes pulled the tuning flat.
