I was in a Guitar Center today, while out of town for work, killing some time. I saw an old USA made Jackson JJ1 Scott Ian signature model with a body made of Korina wood. Bolt-on Maple neck and Rosewood board. The real question is whether it is stolen, or authentic. The Serial numbers on these were stamped on the end of the fretboard. This one was removed, but almost looked like it happened at the factory, because it was done very cleanly, and even some lacquer put over it like the rest of the fretboard. There is a "used" stamped into the back of the headstock, and the serial number is a large sticker between the tuners on thee 3+3 headstock. I have never seen a Jackson with this done. I think was when Fender first bought them, and have never seen a Fender with this done either. The guitar plays fantastic, and it is reasonably priced. I do not feel comfortable with no serial #, and was wondering if anyone else has seen this?

GC runs serial numbers to check stolen... So I doubt that. sounds exactly like a factory second...

Does Jackson sell factory seconds? I have never seen one.

I've seen one. It was an RR3 with a tunematic bridge that had the holes drilled wrong so the string was almost hanging off the high E side of the fretboard.

Thanks. If they will come down even more, I will buy it. Plays fantastic.

I had a pre Scott Ian JJ (with a thin body and a Surfcaster headstock). It had "2nd" stamped into the back of the headstock, but it did have the serial number as well....I miss that guitar.
