Jake is a phenomenal player and every time I see him in an interview or playing he seems really genuine and nice guy. I would really like to see RDC

Thanks to OP for posting this on here! Very cool interview.

Thanks OP! There are some real gems in here if you can swing almost 4 hours. Personally, I loved it. Lots of entertaining tidbits as Jake and Dave Friedman polish off an entire bottle of scotch and then some.

I'm surprised nobody's talking about the little EVH bomb Jake dropped early in the interview, which I'd never heard before. Jake mentions that Ed told him he would set his Marshall to 240V and variac down to 140 or so. Maybe that's common knowledge, but folks have been saying 120 down to 90 (or lower) for years now. Dave seemed a little surprised and said something to the effect that it's never really been discussed before. So Ed wasn't necessarily lying in those old interviews when he said 140 and caused all those tone chasers to blow up their amps. He just left out the part where he was set at 240 vs. 120.

Disclaimer...I watched it yesterday and this is from memory, so I hope I've got it correct. :D

And for those who haven't heard, and more importantly, Dave and Jake are working on a signature amp!

Yeah we got a bit out of hand... oh well it’s was Vegas after all.. Most likely not touch a drop for months after that.. Was fun Jake is a great hang, went to dinner after.

That's what made it fun to watch Dave. Vegas, a good bottle of scotch, good company and some wild stories. Glad to hear you finally got something other than kettle chips and alcohol into your system.

Thanks for taking the time to do stuff like that. I always catch something informative.

see now thats the important bit...having food after over indulging is the key. I know when I was young I would never eat once I got going on the booze...makes hangover twice as bad. That is one of the bonuses of getting older, you do learn from some mistakes

I haven't seen the tone-talk yet, waiting for it to be up loaded as a podcast because it is easier to listen than watch for me

I want a Friedman amp so bad. But I’m disabled and can’t gig anymore. I’ve been using an Ax8 for 1.5 years now bc it is so portable. But I won’t lie.....I want a Friedman.

yeah I hear ya. I have an EVH and a Boss Katana..both are great, but man a friedman would be awesome, but with a wife and 3 youngish kids it ain't gonna happen

I have never had the privilege of plugging into a Friedman. I have tried and loved the BE-OD though. Friedmans are our of budget for my preference really to be truthful. I snagged my (all used) Splawn Nitro, Splawn promod, and my Rockerverb for less than a used Friedman. And personally I think I am happier honestly. But the Friedmans do sound awesome.
