Jake used to be badass. Loved his style of playing...different approach especially at that time when the Floyd Rose was king and everybody was wanking on one. Not Jake...had a ton of tricks up his sleeve but the whammy bar wasn't one of them. Razor sharp attack, monster riffs and the cello technique! An original. Super cool shit. Yeah you could say I was a big fan back then but I have trouble watching this now. I don't know what to make of it...some dive in Vegas with some drunk fucker walking around yelling and bugging you...oh wait...sounds like one of my gigs without the Vegas!! :lol: :LOL:
Anyways, hope things are good for him. I really do. :yes:
 
He's still got it....

It would be a great story if he could completely clean up and somehow get back with Ozzy.
I hate to say it, but I think I prefer some of his stuff with Ozzy more than Randy's.

There's like 4 people there....kinda sad :aww: . Ultimate Sin is my favorite Ozzy record too....wish Jake would bust out some Zombie Stomp as well! :rock:


PS...looks like he is playing a Carvbin Bel Air or a Peavey Classic 30?
 
I like jake, but that sounds like a bad cover band.

Wow... from the arena to the sports bar, that's actually pretty sad. The last time I saw Jake play that song was in Biloxi, MS, in front of about 14,000 people.

Jake has always been one of the most underrated rock guitarists ever, IMO, and I would LOVE to see him get it back together and get another serious music project goin'. He & Ozzy have too much bad blood between them for that to ever happen again, but maybe hook up with another killer singer (even though there will always only be ONE Ray Gillen!) & bring Badlands back, something I'd much rather hear than anything with Ozzy anyway.

Still, I guess it's good to hear he's playing again, even if it's just in a bar band for now.

That was pretty cool. WOuld have loved to see Jake back with Ozzy. He can still play, no doubt about it. His rythems are awesome.

I really dug Jakes rhythm riff work with Ozzy back in the day... Gonna make me cry... :cry:
 
Jake could never officially return to playing with Ozzy because he wouldn't be able to play everything in Ozzy's catalog. There is no way he could pull off the Zakk squeals, etc. It would be cool if Ozzy did a show and invited past guitarists (including Brad Gillis) to do songs, similar to what the Scorpions did recently.

Plus, he'd have to figure out Zakk's secret for cascading 63 chorus pedals into one another to make his patented 747 takeoff whooshing rhythm tone. :thumbsup:

Love old Jake, but his playing in this video is pretty bad. One can make the argument that it's a different interpretation of the song, but just listen, much of it is just plain sloppy - bum notes and all.
