That's a good chuckle. I don't get why the attack like that though and with guitar itself being diminished, seems like it doesn't help. I mean what is Yngwie to Jake? But then again, maybe it helps drum up attention...

"he was really good at one little thing that he does — doing the sweeps and arpeggios and playing fast — and that's all he could do. He's a shitty rhythm player; he can't write a song worth a fuck ... And … yeah, fuck him."

wow i feel really sorry for Lee and all that anger, honestly at that level of hate you really have more problems with yourself than others

yup pretty funny! i gotta say i spent some time with Yngwie at a Vai camp and he was very cool and very funny.

He better be careful or Yngwie is gonna have to unleash da fookin' fury again

Wonder what yngwie did to piss him off so bad though

I didn’t listen to the whole interview; I assume he was prompted into it? But I don’t think it’s a secret that Yngwie maybe was a bit arrogant way back when. And I mean, he was 18 and a phenomenon, so it’s kinda even hard to blame him.

Yup, plus no one could touch him for the style he played. One could argue he inspired as many dudes to pick up the guitar as anyone.
I remember a soundguy who toured with YJM tell me that he signed his hotel ticket "Gimme De Monay". Lol

I love Jake and all but saying Yngwie can't write a rythm? Did he listen to anything off the first three albums?? I'll see the light tonight riff has almost as much pop as bark at the moon.

I dig Jake and this is pretty funny, but take them both in their primes and there's no comparison. Yngwie in his prime was absolutely horrifying. He played as if he had sold his soul, or like he was the Devil himself with a Strat. There was a stretch there where he was untouchable.

Agree. No matter how you shake it, Yngwie was magic. The stuff he came up with was off the charts in comparison to anyone else. His attitude and ego only adds to the legend!

Absolutely! Maestros are supposed to be arrogant pricks!

Yngwie WAS a huge asshole when he was 18-25. I think he's changed a bit over time. But yeah, I read some of his interviews in guitar magazine from the 80's! Some of the shit that Yngwie said was ridiculous. He claimed EVH was afraid of him, said if he showed up some place where Eddie was that he'd duck out to avoid Yngwie.  Maybe because Eddie was a celebrity and Yngwie wasn't. According to Yngwie EVERYONE sucked except him, most guitar players deserved to be plumbers not guitar players, according to him from that time.

before really commenting I need to go and listen to the podcast because the written word can come across very differently to the spoken word

anyone who doesn't know that Yngwie is an arrogant ass isn't paying attention.
Personally I don't care for Jake E lee that much either

Also said this elsewhere. Nothing Jake has recorded made me ever say “Man!!! I WISH I could do that!” And to be clear I love his work with Oz and the first Badlands album.

Outside of that it’s been “meh” for me and RDC just plain sucks.

His classics are exactly that. Classic and killer. Yngwie still has the same effect now that he did 30 years ago on me when I hear or see him play. Sure he hasn’t released anything killer in years but he’s still... Yngwie!

A good friend of mine managed bands back in the 80's and 90's. Several times he had YJM on one of his bills. Said that he has never been around anyone that he disliked more than having to deal with YJM at that time.

I have heard that he is not like that these days however. No skin off of my sack either way but I agree that in his early days, just unreal.

Love 'em both.
YJM has some pretty killer riffs, in my opinion. Great rhythm player.
