Week started off very rough.
Surfing accident early Tuesday morning—board hit me in mouth and almost bit off an inch of the end of my tongue. Dangling by threads as set of the day pounded me. that was special.

drove to emergency and doc gave me 14 stitches a bottle of hydrocodone and said i should heal well but take it easy for a week or two.
until then i’m talking weird (my compassionate wife has nicknamed me porky duck) and eating is a real painful drag.

but then this happened today

and for a little while i forgot all about my troubles!!
Thank you Rich and the awesome gang at Tyler Guitars 🙏🙏🥳

my wife knows how long i’ve wanted this mod done to my guitar so she filmed me pulling it out of the case and i made a quick iphone clip playing it for the first time.

legendary Tyler clean tone sounded killer in the room, but wdw dirt sounded weird and fuzzy— still figuring out what switch does what but i’ll work on it!

So sorry to hear about that injury! Get Well!

What a beautiful place to call home. Wow. Mad props to you that you still surf and play guitar! We don't stop doing the things we love because we get older - we get older because we stop doing the things we love! Keeper wifey for sure. And a lil' chihuahua to top it all off!!! This is what I pray my life looks like when I (finally) retire. Almost there.

Edit - agree with what others are posting. Beautiful tones with that rig and great playing.

Sorry about your tongue bro, that had to be a bitch...

Man I don't think I've heard a guitar with that level of articulation. Initial clips sound amazing. What a beautiful chorused tone you were getting. Glad you got your axe, huge congrats!!!

How damn sweet is that ? Damn sweet. Supernice.
I had a tongue incident about 14 yrs old. Very painful. Swelling couldn't eat or talk.
Still have the hole.
Semper Fidelis.

What, wen broke da mouth literally ??? Sorry to hear that Braddah, that guitar should make you feel better though...

Here's my request, how bout you re create your "Dark Dumble" clip with that guitar, whatever amp and unleash it here (feel free to post up the OG clip too)

Last hot tip - no stick your tongue out when you're in the barrel hahaha

and she has to ride in my wife’s shirt all night wearing earmuffs and zoning on gummies for new year’s fireworks.

Mahalo my fellow Tyler aficionado!

dude this switching configuration is the must have finishing touch for the legendary Huff-Landau rack cleans i’ve been chasing for most of my adult guitar playing life. the guitar was already great sounding in standard 5-way switching mode, but the series-split-parallel switches, preamp/mid boost, neck bridge/all on switch, and rhythm-lead “blower” switch took it to a whole new level.

such a dream to be able to dial in the ultimate clean tone setting on the gtr for that preset,
and then flip the blower + step on the crunch preset and BAAM full dirt. for a rack guy like me who loved options, it’s the best!

it’ll take a while to determine what switch positions sound best and then to make the switching second nature but it’s a cool new challenge!

It'll be killer hearing you dial it with your rig in as you get more time to spend with it. Those chorused cleans.....sounded like I was inside the wave somewhere in so cal with a 1985 soundtrack pumping from one of those tall/skinny silver ghettoblasters with the big batteries. I know you've been waiting for this a good long while. Must've been pure agony tracking the shipping...probably why you bit your tongue thinking about that JAMES TYLER while riding down a wave. Glad it got there safe and sound. Enjoy brother and can't wait to hear more!!!

braddah sheldon really stepped up his game this winter and was wacking airs!
paddled out and caught some sickies then the swell just started pulsing 5-6 ft when i caught the first wave of the set. close out on the inside like normal, popped up and as soon as i broke the surface WHAM. dust. the end of my tongue was flopping and spinning like a kite and felt like i had a piece of sashimi in my mouth. gnarly.

i’ll try to dial in some mid gain in the rack. one of the hardest sounds to get right with preamp/rack stuff. the peacemaker with pedals does it instantly!
