Indeed!
Looks really cool to me, love the vibe; especially with the background story associated to it as you shared.
I have a little Tyler project myself in the work, looking forward to see how it turns out...
i hope you get a great one!

I dig it! I don't use enough variety of tones to justify a guitar like a Tyler, but I love the vibe of them. Very cool guitar

So sorry to hear of that nasty injury; but so stoked for you on the New Guitar Day...and beyond!! May the joy of playing it help you heal quickly!

i totally understand. for me Tylers have been the ultimate solution in an electric guitar since discovering them in the early nineties, hearing and playing them and really wanting one until finally getting my classic in 2005 which is just a really special one Jim Tyler helped me get. He hand shaped the neck, did the final setup on his bench the day i picked it up, adjusted the action exactly how i wanted it, and it was perfect.

the final culmination was being able to custom modify it with all the options. waiting until now to do the burning tobacco finish was a blessing because their paint jobs now are light years ahead of the early burning water designs.

Mahalo and appreciate the kind thoughts.🙏
i’m actually healing really well and even though the stitches are still in, i just ate my first semi solid food since last week Monday—scambled eggs and chopped up corned beef hash for dinner! never tasted so good!🤣

Mahalo to you as well!!! Glad to hear the speedy progress. Dinner through a straw is SO over-rated. snort.
What's your take on the Tyler? I've never owned one. Tom Andersons? yes, but not Tyler. Enjoy!

Looks great Pat, no need for any other guitar ever again! (well...maybe...). How are you finding the electronics?

TA and Anderson era Schecters, Valley Arts, those were the ones to get when Tyler was just making his rise. Zion…i’ve played amazing examples of all of those guitars.

i think there are certain camps of brand loyal followers. and i’m not even saying every Tyler is a masterpiece because i played some headscratchers during a period when they were making necks way fatter. if that was my only experience i may have blown them off.
glad i knew better!

for my tastes in overall variety of superstrat clean and dirty tones and consistency of comfortable necks it’s Tyler.

i once played a collection of some of the most coveted vintage fender and gibson electric guitars ever, and when a Tyler was pulled from the pile it was instantly the one i bonded with and would have wanted to do a gig with.

conversely, i don’t gravitate to Suhr guitars although i know many players who love and rip on them and prefer them to Tylers.

i’m slowly internalizing what switch does what and deciding what i like.

here are the vast options available which i wrote down to remember

and me initially stumbling through some of those options which i’m still trying yo remrmber what they are called🤣

3 main upgrades:

1) my low output Holmes bridge humbucker can now be run in series, split, or parallel

2) the midboost during leads adds fatness and sustain to single notes up high like having a boost pedal on your pickguard

3) the new array and quality of studio clean tones for an 80s rack guy like me are a dream come true.

that said my fender indo tele with a fralin lipstick neck pu and my prs ce i threw tone specific randy rhoads pickups in have there place!

Oh dude, that sounds incredible, loved the nods to Sykes, hope the wound carries on healing well!

Mahalo for the kind thoughts and words! I am healing really well and getting more normal each day. 🙏

more observations regarding the switching/midboost mods to my guitar-

prior to having the mods done, i would always be tweaking the knobs on my rig trying to find a bit more sparkle in the TSC clean thing i chase. when i had my triaxis rig eons ago i added the BBE and a rocktron Pro Q into the mix with a patchmate and there was a ton of highs but they were always on the harsh/thin side.

prior to taking my gtr to Tyler i replaced the standard tone pot with a fender TBX tone pot and it did improve the guitar’s ability to lift the highs in a fairly natural useable way.

but now with the updates my gtr has, i have all the natural sparkle i need with various degrees of bright to dark available by combining switch positions. it doesn’t sound artificial but more like the pickups are being allowed to shine. cool!!

first spin on Jose was pretty fun but i’ll need more time with it to find my groove with it.
the Burning Tobacco sounded great through the Bludodrive
