I cannot stand "superjams". It's the music equal to a circle jerk.

I agree with that statement when thinking about showmanship, backing vocals etc but Robert's tone is better. I still wish that Jason was in the band though.

Agree. He should have never been out. he was treated unfairly and it sucks.

I am not a fan of spider monkey.

I watched them last night and the bass sound was massive. I kinda miss Newsted though.
But Rob is the more powerful bass player.

wow. I just watched the videos. There was very little "rock and roll" to those performances. Their "Huey Lewis and the News" outfits, over-the-top posing out of Lars, and the bass was so brutal it forces one to squat down and hold it upright. It seemed about as lame as most of the bands that generally get inducted to the hall.

those rectos they were playing sound like fuckign shit jesus christ

funny how that big sound dissappears when you just add a bass, all you are left with is this shitty top end

yup. no mids=can't cut through the bass.

now we know why the bass has been mixed out of so many metallica records

I watched the ceremnoy last night and was greatly disappointed with the performance. I don't if there were technical difficulties, but I could only hear Kirk's guitar through the whole performance last night. It didn't sound like James' was mic'd.

Well, they sound just fine live and no matter how many high gainers I play its always back to the Mesa's.

i just have this hangup with how crappy metallicas (modern) live tone is

I have seen them live a handful of times and it was always a pile of muddy shit. Now granted this was Albuquerque NM, the armpit of the US, but still, it sucked.

I saw them open for Ozzy back in '86 and their guitars tone were awful then as well...complete mud, no mids, "sizzley" high end. Seems liked nothing has changed.

R they still running the Ractifiers? Saw them last fall. I wouldnt say their tone was crappy but it was kinda blah. Especially James. Very Nu metal sounding. I saw them in 2000 and they sounded awesome. I like Jason better than the Spider Monkey Crab too.

I thought the Mesa's were just for show. That they had Diezels you do not see. :scared: That may explain the mids.
