Are you still using them?

I got some of these a few weeks ago, and after much indecisiveness, I've found their rounder attack and slightly thicker tone more appealing, plus they feel a bit stiffer. I found the stiffness "clunky" at first but now I'm finding it to yield the differences in tone. They're definitely less "scratchy" sounding on the bass strings too, which definitely appeals.

I switched a couple months ago and I am sticking with them. I'm comfortable with black or Ultex I like the way the Ultex lets me grip it when my hand gets sweaty.

I switched a year ago, I use those, the Cool picks and of course the V-Picks but I just got a bag of the Eric Johnson Jazz III and those made it back into rotation.

Ed, ever use stubbys? I use the 2mm purples and have been reading about the v-picks, I am wondering if I would be launching them all over the jam room. I like the round indent on the stubby but I am interested in the v-picks.

I have been using the Jazz IIIs for over a year, I love them. Where do you guys buy the Ultex ? I can never find them. Did you guys order direct from Dunlop ?

Years ago, hated them. I like stiff but not too thick when it comes to picks.

I would have thought with your style you had a thick pick, so much for that idea :) I went from 1m tolex to the stubbies and my picking was better right out of the gate.

Going to order one of those 2.75 v-picks to see what that brings.

Ed, ever tried metal picks? I started using stainless steel picks again, if I do too many pick slides then I end up with partial flatwounds. ;)

I use the thin medium size pointy V-picks

I have...the usual stuff including the Jazz III made out of old cymbols etc...the only metl pick I ever really, really dug was a titanium Jazz 3 they sold in Japan a while back.

Man during my weekly jam band stuff during rhythm I get pretty heavy, my freaking tops would be destroyed if I used metal picks :D

I switched from black JazzIIIs to Ultex JazzIIIs a couple of weeks back and I love them! Ultexes have better grip so that angle of the pick doesn't start changing a bit when playing heavier stuff, feel is better and sound is better, IMO. They last longer and cost only a bit over ½ of the price of regular JazzIIIs.
Thanks to all the people who raved about them and got me trying them!!!

I use the Jazz Ultex picks too. I try different picks every once in a while, but haven't found anything that I really like better yet.

I switched to the "Cool" picks about 8 months ago...'ain't looking back.
