You guys can come at me with all the JB hate that you would like, but every time I put a JB in one of my Strats I end up with a big smile on my face. Just a plane jane A5 JB, and I’m in rock heaven. So here’s a horns up for the JB!!! \m/

Other JB Players:
Jerry Cantrell
Warren DiMartini
Andy Timmons (before the sig pup)
George Lynch (amber quilt strat in the Lynch Mob vids)
Michael Wilton
To name a few...

Hell yeah....used a JB for YEARS.
Then went to EMG's.....
Now using the Suhr Aldrich and it reminds me a little of the JB but with more Bite.

In the right guitar, the JB is a KILLER sounding pickup!!

I have one in the bridge position of my 80's Burny Les Paul Custom and it sounds amazing!
Yeah I had them in Kramers and ESP's back in the 80s'...and sounded great!!

Had an old one in a Les Paul Custom that I loved. I have yet to hear a newer one that sounds good to me...it's like something changed about them after '89.

Seymour makes the best non-boutique passive bridge pickups IMO.

Rumor has it Adam Jones uses one in all of his Silverbursts.

but then again "they" say he uses and Epilady.

for the record, four of my fids have JB's in the bridge.

I've got a JB in a full bodied Korina Jackson kelly and it kills.

Demartini has a sig. pup now and so does Cantrell so not sure they count but their pups are based on it. I think Lynch has gone to Alnico II's ( i love those) in some of his guitars now too. I'm a duncan fan though!

JB's are one of the best PUPs out there. Unfortunately I am JB less at the moment. The used LP i picked up has a Pearly Gates/Jazz set in it. Not bad. Likes that Jazz pup. JB needs to find it's way back in the bridge slot.

Guitar Center won't be crowded today....

I just a got custom H-H alder strat made for me that came with an Air zone. I have to say, not a huge fan of dimarzio's. I keep trying to give them a chance but they kind of suck. Huge on the bass and eq 'd to cut all the grit i find. Very round sounding. Have an SH-5 in my other guitar and i think it has awesome harmonics and crunch. I've got a JB sitting around, any experience with ebony fretboards and JB? Will it be too bright? I figured Cantrell was using ebony fretboards wasn't he? While we're at it, what pairs well with a JB in the neck? 59?Jazz? Worse case scenario i throw my L-500 Bill lawrence in the bridge and a 59 in the neck and go the Nuno route seeing as I have an ebony fretboard..

That's been my experience as well with DiMarzio's bridge pickups, exactly as you said. Very round, no cut or power. 59 or Jazz goes well in the neck. Jazz if you want a fat round bottom, 59 for a more middy sound.

SFW, have you been using regular spaced or trem spaced JB's in your strats? I bought a newer tremspaced JB and was very disappointed compared to an older regular spaced JB. It seems like SD has changed the setup on the newer ones and/or the trem spaced JBs

+ 1. Love the 59 in the neck. I really think I like it better than my 57 classic in my Les Paul.
