The axefx is a very cool piece of gear. But I can't see guys using the xtc models exclusively over an actual xtc, either. Getting one to use at home and for recording? Sure. I really don't feel like there's anything I can't get out of my rig that I'd want at the moment but I've been real happy with the xtc for a long time. I think there's something to be said for spending time with a rig and figuring out how to coax what you need out of it rather than switching rigs every time you want a different sound but that's just me.

If you're ever interested in checking one out in person, feel free to hit me up

By the way, I love tube amps. Not preaching that the Axe kills tubes, or anything else. I was just absolutely shocked when I got the thing and heard what it did (through a tube power section)

Sounds and fells EXACTLY like a tube amp to me, and that's the only person I'm looking to satisfy :D

Well.......the axefx is WAY easier to sneak through the house than an amp, maybe I wont
Well, as long as you don't decide to build a rig in a 10 space heavy duty shock mount rack at your friends house and then try to get it down your basement stairs when you get home....... Like I did yesterday.

I allmost lost her down the stairs. My next purchase will be an appliance dolly. :D

I lugged this from one basement to another yesterday, I feel your pain

4x12 as well, I think my Pankreous blew up.

Scott, sweet rack pic! I bought a Mesa Studio preamp to compare/contrast and mod a Randall module to get the same tones (which worked pretty well) - and then put it in the loop on the Axe to see how good the IIC+ on the axe is vs a real Mesa.

Axe can cop the studio tone no problem. Almost makes me want to dial in my 'real' SLO and XTC with the axe and create presets for each... then consider dumping the real amps.

However, the axe still doesn't have the 100% feel of the real deal, and the real amps handle volume control changes a little better. Plus, and this is a stupid reason, but I really dig seeing an SLO or Bogner 1/2 stack behind me when I gig. I know, it's purely psychological, but I wanted those amps for so long that to finally have them is just a good feeling.

Pete

Thanks Pete!

I know the stuff is dated but in regards to the effects they still sound very good esp for what I scored the stuff for. All the processors in that pic still get buried by the axefx though   I just enjoy buying stuff I could not afford back in the day :)

I will be at some time getting an Ultra, no doubt about it. The POD is not very good at the fiddle game and the feel lacks big time, still fun to jam on though when running it dry and patching it to the other stuff. I will admit that I like a tube amp behind me as well, just something I would have to get over.

BTW.......picked up a pedaltrain pro last week and your right, the board is very good and heavy duty

Not to argue the point, but I sold 16 amps recently, kept 5 set-ups. This is one of them...

Thanks for the offer, may have to take you up on that some time. I heard the axefx at the l.a. amp show awhile back but only briefly to be honest.

I played it quite a bit at that show, dug it then, and it's actually much better now.

:D I totally believe its working for you, man. 16 amps... :worship: lol. I'd definitely give one a spin if funds allowed but not gonna be for awhile. The g system was a big investment and I've been real happy with it. Really clean setup with only the floorboard and one cable. I'd have to sell off guitars to make it happen and just not a good time to do that, really. And nor would I want to. Much better to wait until I can add things w/o selling :D All of a sudden I've been annoyed with myself for offing a '69 pedal I sold like 5 years ago lately

I'm not big on selling. But I was simply out of space. And since other than the occassional appearance of old Marshalls my live set up stayed the same for 100+ gigs everything I haven't used in 6+ month unless it's vintage stuff...gone.
Haven't sold any guitars though... :)
And I sill do hve 2 old Marshalls, an old Bassman, and the Bogner Alchemist if I really need a channel switcher. Plus, I'd say I have fairly easy access to all things THD. Ha!

And no software hiccups or anything in 100+ gigs? That's a strong selling point for sure  And obviously good call on keeping the vintage stuff. Its a lot easier to part with stuff you can replace easily if seller's remorse kicks in bad.
