Thinking about swapping the 80's JB in my Alder strat with a Dimarzio SD. What should I expect? I've been thinking about doing this ever since Rockstah posted all those VH clips many years ago. Just looking to try something new.

Think old Maiden,Priest and with the right amp the first VH record tone.
It is different from a JB in a strat.
JB is more RATT,Jake E Lee,lynch when in a strat.

Dimarzio Super Distortion = Crazy Train
Duncan JB = Bark at the Moon

Dimarzio is ceramic, more emphasis in the low-mids, chunkier and more defined for rhythms, solos a little on the stiff side, more 70's early 80's hard rock/metal sound.

JB is Alnico5, more emphasis in the high mids, smoother and more loose for rhythm and solo wankery. More mid-late 80's sound.

I like them both and switch between them depending on my mood ;)
