I have an 800 and run it with the Mythical OD, BB Pre and a Boss SD1. All sound great. What would take it to the next level?

Deadweald duality or Griff can make a clone. You’re basically running a TS and TC Pre together - tons of gain, big lows in tact but tight and aggressive

IMO if you dont have one already a solid EQ will make a huge difference.

Check out an MXR 6 Band, so good and they cost a song.

Griffin Super Drive if you want a more natural sounding SD-1. Keeley Super Rodent with both switches in SD mode if you want to go over the top.

EQs are great boost but ImE they play a better roll not just boosting but also shaping at the end of ones chain like a global EQ for the whole chain.

I feel this way it kind of gives more of an added faux EQ and additional range to all the pedals vs being used as a boost solely.

YMMV and always use discretion and play with placement.

I have used so many with my JCM800 2204 it is not funny! My current favorite is the Wampler Tumnus Deluxe. The EQ section really lets you dial in the tone and the Normal/Hot mode options are great as well. Other favorites, the tried and true Tube Screamer, Keeley Modded SD-1, Barber Direct Drive, Dunlop Timmy and the six gazzillion variations on the DOD 250.
