The JDS Labs Element III is an audiophile-grade DAC & amp that offers so much bang for the buck.
The quality of audio playback through the Element III is absolutely fantastic, transparent, and detailed with support for up to 32/384kHz PCM and DSD128 through JDS Labs' second generation XMOS XU208 engine.
The amp itself utilizes a neutral tonality, and the soundstage accuracy is impressive with the channel balance being perfect all the way down to -127.5dBFS.
The onboard OLED screen allows you to easily check any necessary input in regards to routing from the inputs (digital USB or optical SPDIF), routing to the outputs (headphones or RCA), or if you need to dive into the options menu to tweak the LED light behavior, adjust the encoder steps (0.5dB or 1.0dB), increase bandwidth, select between the DAC filters, and more.
Everything about the Element III feels technicality proficient in design from start to finish. A big contributor is the fact that the device is presented in a sleek, minimalist, black aesthetic, topped with a huge, tactile, free-spinning knob that is very satisfying to turn.
Lastly, this unit has been flashed to the latest/final firmware update, which added a 2-band parametric EQ (bass and treble) that coordinates perfectly with the auto volume and gain logic.
The original packaging, USB cable, and power supply from the factory are all included.
