R.I.P. Brother

Big R.I.P. there. He wrote their best material. I hope Kerry will open up to letting Holt write or contribute just to keep it varied and fresh. I'm not sure how i feel about whether Slayer is done or not since he passed.

I know but I always felt it was Jeff and Tom as the backbone of the group. I know people associate KK as the foundation, I just never saw it that way.

KK is the media whore of the band, but yeah, I always felt more like Jeff and Tom were the core..

RIP Jeff Hanneman. A great thrash player and writer.

RIP Jeff !! I'm GASsing so bad for one of his Camo ESPs.

I didn't realize this until after his passing but Jeff was a terribly sloppy guitarist (but great songwriter). Kerry had to play all the rhythms in the studio cause Jeff was so sloppy. You'll notice in live recordings that his guitar is always turned really low, except when he played solo's... and for solos playing sloppy and noisy was kinda their trademark.

One thing is for sure though... he always came up with the best songs, riffs despite his playing.

His playing became sloppy later in his career due to an arthritic condition. Before he was stricken with arthritis, he was a much cleaner player. You could hear the difference live over the years. Hell, you could see the difference in his picking technique. As time went on and his condition worsened, he used his entire forearm instead of just his hand to pick fast. Here's a great article on The Man himself. RIP JH http://www.guitarworld.com/tribute-comp ... n?page=0,1

I would assume his sloppiness had something to do with him being a major alcoholic.

R.I.P.

arthritis will slow you down; makes it tougher to play (reduced endurance, finger strength, speed, accuracy...offset by increasing pain). progressively worsens over time. I know this first hand.

First I heard he died from a spider bite, then I heard he died of liver complications due to drinking. Wassup?
