JerEvil’s Armored Amps “Sabot” thread - Full Demo Up!

Well, the amp got here Thursday. We just moved so didn’t unpack til yesterday. Have had about 15 minutes of playtime with it.

Initial thoughts:
• It’s a ripper
• VERY solid construction
• More “Classic” than I anticipated
• A lot of usable tweakability

When I pulled it out of the box, the first thing I thought was “damn!”

Nothing feels cheap on this amp, that’s for sure. Everything feels heavy duty. The etched panels look really nice. Tried it with my Les Paul Traditional and Balaguer Archetype. Both sounded great through my K100 loaded cab.

I’ll get some vid posted this weekend.

Getting some vids going

So this is NOT my actual demo but it is a look at the Armored Amps “Sabot”. Used my Les Paul Trad Pro, V-Boutique 212 w/Celestion Redbacks and audio is captured with a Rode shotgun. Proper demo coming this week with full mix clips as well... Just hit it all at noon and noodled.

Used my Les Paul w/Burstbucker 3’s, my Balaguer with Fishman’s and my Ibanez RGD 7-string. Chapter markers in the vid description.

From what I saw, it is a copy of a Cameron and Fortin Jose mods. For $1,400, the price was worth it. I didn’t jump since I already have that tone. I like that it’s made in America.

It’s a really fun amp. Wasn’t sure what to expect when I got it to be honest based on some other demos.

Yeah for sure. It’ll rock your balls off.

The Attack Knob takes it from rounder to really tight though. No boost needed for me to get the goods on it.

Look forward to the full on review. Some cool things going on but there is something about the overall voice that isn't wow'ing me. But that easily could be something as simple as just the placement in the room.

Is it smaller than a Marshall Smallbox? It looks tiny on top of that Henning.

It’s all good man. There was definitely nothing scientific about the cameras mic placement. It sits on top and was just trying to make sure I somewhat fit in the frame! Lol.

Yeah the headshell is a shorty for sure but I think it’s about the same size as the Fortin Cali headshell. I’ll have the full demo up this week for sure.
