Would still like to know if the Cantrell cuts through a band mix. A good wah either needs to be voiced so it cuts a mix well or have a slight boost when engaged. The fact that nobody is responding to this question, has me cautious before using one.

+20dB

One trip to Dunlop's website told me that.

So he kicks on the Buff Puff with the wah?

The Buff Puff is a buffer. It's always on, and it's to compensate for the line loss from running long cable from his rack to his wah, then back to his rack again.

it's a buffer AND a clean booster (set around 9:00 on pics)

I think the buffer is always on, but I'm not sure if the booster is always on too (it has no footswitch)

he used to have a tube screamer in the front too a few years ago (and now another one in the loop)

if you can't afford the tone freak pedal, the MXR CAE is a great alternative

was bored today...havent played this solo since i was 15...so my memory was a bit hazy...

Cool little demo! So would you say that the knob controls the width of the sweep, or how sharp and cutting the high end freq's are when the pedal is down? Sounded great.

Basically. It makes it really easy to stay within the sweet spot for the kind of sound you're going for.

heres a quick comparision between a modded GCB-95
you can hear the affect of the fine tune knob more when its on the amps clean channel

yup!
it affects the frequency on the toe down position. either smooth/mellow/dark OR bright/Cutting/Harsh

My projectx102 wah is still my favorite. For the cost of a Dunlop wah you can have Rick build a wah with quality parts. He can also customize the Q and sweep as well.

Sounds killer as usual Dave!

Who is Rick? Does he have a site?

By the way...which Strat is that???

I had one for a while but ended up selling it and going back to my Crybaby b95Q. Why? The Cantrell got lost in the mix with my band and it doesn't have any gain or volume boost. I at least need a slight boost, such as with the Zakk Wylde wah or at least an adjustable boost like my 95Q, plus the 95Q is auto on and off so no hassle turning the wah on or off. :)

For a better wah, look at the new Budda Bud Wah. That pedal is very hard to beat.

Welcome back bro!! You playing a new cab yet with diff speakers or a new amp? What's the deal!

On a more serious note, I don't like gain in my wah pedals. Had one modded and though it sounds great, the added gain I am not a fan of. Budda looks solid if you are addicted to wah alla Hamster.

Hello sir! Hope you are well!
I hear ya, but I like boost and gain in a wah since I only use wah for cover solos, never on clean. Most wahs have built in gain or boost, like the Bonamassa, Wylde and Cantrell. Best bet is to stick with something like the CAE MC404 wah because you can adjust the fasel, gain and Q so you can really get what you want. I am not a fan of having lots of switches and knobs, but sometimes ya gotta do it. :)

Well, at least we know now. I've been lurking forever, but always glad to know what people think coming back after a bit.

A wah is a wah really, they all sound pretty much the same. Just depends what features you want in one. Love my 95Q - everything you could want in a wah pedal :)
