Is there anyone here who has played both who can provide a comparison?

I remembered this was discussed a little bit previously

Jc is a heavy saturated sound. The SS is darker and a bit more vintage and thick sounding. Both are mean though.

Yeah but that discussion didn't really do much to clarify things. Judging from the videos, the JC sounds like my kind of amp, but the SS seems more versatile and with a better clean channel. Hard to tell from the videos available at this point though.

Very different cleans - apparently the SS is a Fender clean voicing; the JJ is more of a Vox clean voicing.

I've played both, also the Small Box and Phil X. I have a JJ coming. I played it at NAMM. The JJ-100 has a very cool low end bloom that's very articulate and defined. Very surprising for a amp with that much saturated gain. The SS-100 is more Fenderish on the clean and less compressed on the gain. More open with loads of gain. Great soloing amp. The JJ-100 leans more towards the BE-100, but with more girth and warmth. It's not just a amp that suits AIC tones. It would slay on Sabbath and old Metallica. It's got that kinda punch. I love both amps.

So, I assume your description of the gain on JJ is with the high gain switch engaged? I just wonder if it's more like the BE without that turned on.

It is

Cool, thanks for the comparison. I love what I can hear from the videos on both amps. What can you tell me about the Smallbox in comparison to all the others mentioned?

The Small Box is has the same voice as the BE-100's Browneye channel with a shared EQ for each channel. Each channel has independent Gain and Volume.

So, if you could only pick 2, between the SS, Small Box, and JJ, what would it be?

:D

I have a JJ-100 on order.. Considering the SS-100. I have a Pink Taco sitting here and I sold my 1st version BE-100. I like Phil X also.
