Looking for something close to an Opeth sound without breaking the bank. I'm thinking the JCA 22h with the SLO and Depth mods might work nicely. I played a JCA50h and really liked it. Any thoughts?

the 22h is one nice amp, if you liked the jca50h you will like it. I can't compare to the terror though.

The jca22 can probably be modded into any kinda high gain tone you want since A LOT of different high gainers are based on the Soldano preamp circuit, but one would think the mini recto and the carvin would have you covered at least ball park for opeth. what's missing?

Opeth seems to have a tighter gain than the recto. The Carvin is very smooth, which I prefer more to the Rectifier. I think I'm more of a Marshall guy than a recto guy. Unfortunately, Marshall doesn't offer a lot in the range of low wattage heads.

The SLO specs won't make it tighter than the mini recto, but again it can definetly be taken to a super tight and marshall-ish type of tone if you ask for it. In the sloclone forum there is a spec called 'Marsholdano' that may fit your needs if you wanna do the modding on your own.
