I put a JJ ECC803S in V1 and it seemed to smooth out the gain even more...

Yeah I'm waiting to get my JTM45 back from zach. He's had it for like.. 2 months hahaha.. I'm just too lazy to drive an hour to go get it

I also want to wait for the port city cab, 50H and Pico to roll in. I'll wheel everything outside and get a family photo!

What kind of mods is he working on for the JCA100H?

I don't think I could do without it for 2 months..

I need to get a better cab and a backup amp before I could send anything off to get modded...

I've been eye-balling Barons for the past few days.. A Baron MII60 looks cool for $1550.00..

No idea what he'd do but he said looking at the guts shot that there is several things he can do if the owner wants it tighter and cleaner. Basically just cap swapping and things like that.

Well, you'd mod the 20w for a loop. Someone else might consider modding the bigger models to upgrade the parts. Amps made in China are usually using the most available parts, not the best. Also, one might want to mod the 100 to get close to an SLO.

I won't debate the merits of amp modding. If you want a an SLO save up and buy an SLO.

You could buy a granger or titan for that price and have way closer to a SLO than a modded JCA100 w/onetics.

I think they are great amps for the money. I am looking forward to checking out the PicoValve myself.

Andy Marshall had the design around a long time, but did not use it till now. At $299 it is cheaper than some pedals.

299 for the amp and 500 for tubes!

I have way more than $500 worth of tubes around, I started collecting them almost 40 years ago.

Have you ever seen gut shots of a Baron? I was looking at the specs on the Baron MII60, and it runs $1550.00..

Ohhh Snap.... Maybe Doug could talk to the owner of Baron and perhaps work out a deal for making Chinese Barons.. LOL... Kind of like they did with Andy Marshall of THD.. Perhaps Zack could get a get a deal for a Chinese Titan..

99% of a legit SLO's tone for half the price is a deal in my book but I prefer the titan's voicing over a real SLO anyways. And the SLO clones that I've played or heard in person that either had mercury or heyboer iron in them didn't sound all that different than the real SLO's.

The JCA100H is good for me right now.. Better low end at lower volumes.. I would like to see you do a side by side demo with a JCA100H and a SLO or a Hotrod 100...

yup chinese, same SLO circuit with a few changes, seems ripe to mod back to SLO spec and add some mercury Iron for the poor mans SLO.

The SLOs tranny is DeYoung, not Mercury. Just FYI.

Oh Im aware, you just cant by the Deyoung and I happen to love Mercurys Iron.

How's the effects loop on JCA100H? Is it the typical Soldano +4dB serial loop or does this one actually work with pedals?

I've owned a Soldano Hot Rod 50+, a Yamaha T-50, and a Yamaha T-100 and none of them worked well with pedals in the loop. Pretty much to only reason I ditched those amps.

They need to hurry up and release the JCA50H. The GAS is hurtin'

Correct.
However Bud, owner of ONetics, has done design work for DeYoung so he may have had a hand in the original as well.
