I do not know how good the iron is or the componets BUT that amp looks better built than many others in that price range.....................

They are UK built trannies.

You are talking to a guy that fought Lucus Electronics in Jags for 10 years, you really want to go there regarding the origin of the trannies?    :D

Ok, they are Chinese built, happy now ;)

Only if the Union Jack is still on the inside of the chassis. Adds mojo and credibility.

Good morning - thanks for pointing out the thread to me, Drew. I don't think I have ever registered to this forum before but I wanted to get in here and comment on the amp.
Earhart isn't a clone of another product. I guess it might depend on the definition of the word 'clone' but to me it would mean 'copy'. I'm working with a company in England who do design and manufacturing work. I've known them for years and have done other projects with them. I have engaged them for the Earhart 50 (hopefully there will be further models). The Earhart design was contracted and built for JCA specifically. For sure it is very similar to designs this designer has done before, so I think the comparisons are inevitable.
And yes, the transformers are made in the UK.

Agreed. Seems to be a case of poor branding/marketing. Jet City is known for making good sounding budget amps...they've established a brand identity by doing so. IMO they should have had a new name for a high-end build...it's much easier to sell a budget version of a known high quality product (think Suhr Pro-series or import Fenders/Jacksons/etc) than it is to sell an elite offering by a company known for making low-budget products (Volkswagon's failure to crack the luxury car market a few years back with an $80K offering comes to mind).
It looks/sounds like it could be a great amp but a lot of players will have an issue with shelling out $2500 for a Jet City regardless of its sound and build quality.

Yeah, but I like the challenge of increasing my brand's presence and value through an upscale offering. I don't have to move a lot of units to make this work. And I would rather work on the branding/marketing for JCA, not JCA PLUS another brand. We are still small and young - the time to expand into a premium segment of our range is better now than later. Besides, there's already a brand for the higher-end builds based on the Soldano circuits: SOLDANO.

Agreed...if that's what you're shooting for then better to do it now than later. Best of luck
