I read a bit online about Dave's mods to the JCA20H, and am very interested. A "mini Marsha" would be perfect for me. Dave, could you shed some more light on your work with this amp? Mods available, prices, turnaround estimate, ect..

I'd love to have a clean channel, a Hairy Brown Eye, a loop, the saturation switch, and a awesome MV for playing at bedroom volumes. I need a pissed off Marshall at low volumes for tech/melodic metal, with a good clean channel for the clean breaks. Something that can be pushed into mid-gain territory for blues/rock stuff would be even better. I don't have the budget to have a huge rig, or the space to have a 50-100 watt amp and a 4x12.

..... and anything you can tell us about mods on the Rebel 20 also well your in here.
I am interested in both of these amps being modified.
Thanks

Ok I can't do the hbe on it but I do the BE on it and can add the saturation switch. Cost is 299.00 + 50 for a saturation. Can't do to much to it because of size. The mod I do with the Egnater is he c45 mod It seems to sound the best with that amp Same cost.

That's too bad. I was thinking space would be an issue. I don't think the BE would have enough gain for me. Who knows..

How about a loop?

Well with the saturation switch it has a lot more about what a HBE has.

dude, you'd be VERY pleasantly surprised at what a Friedman BE mod with SATURATION switch can do ;) ...it'll cover everything from classic rock to Metallica,no problem.just listen to my Friedman-modded Purplexi amp video on youtube.i go through the various KS mods and do some riffs of a BE mod "with" & "without" SAT switch "on",right in the beginning part of the video...this is a plug'n'play amp mod,no pedal boost used in the vid(or needed) ...imo,this is your best "bang-for-the-buck" mod set-up

The BE sounds better as well IMHO. I was a little disappointed when Dave said he did not want to put the HBE in my 50 watter a ways back, but once I got it back and kicked in the saturation switch I had to ask why I would even need the HBE. The BE is where its at for me. Even with my Randall rig, the BE is my go to module.

Most people say the same once they hear it. Oh well, live and learn. :D

I don't suppose you could throw a cantrell mod on a JCA20?? If so, I'm in

This is VERY good news! If the BE can get to modern metal levels, then I am in.
Put a loop on it, and A/B with something cheap for cleans I guess.

I might be able to do a clean but how much do you want to spend on a amp this cheap?

Exactly my reasoning for doing an A/B with something else.

Tha BE has alot more gain than people think.

definately.

+2. I think the mids and gain are perfect in the BE. But I'm not a "metal" player, per se.
