It does have a depth circuit. It needed it to get that big headroom sound.

No, it stays pretty true to the sound you hear on the video at any volume. I have mods done to the power section. One cool thing is that I can drive the EL84’s really hard and they will last a long time, not the usual 3-4 month life cycle. It still gets blistering loud though.

One thing I didn’t mention is that the amp feels incredible. Super easy to play. That’s part of the magic, knowing both tone and feel is an art in itself.

I have one of those Friedman JCA20H amps too. Fully loaded "Jet Pack" with SAT switch, footswitchable clean channel, and metro effects loop. I've done a few tweaks in addition to his work as well. Added a choke, upgraded the caps, added a depth control, and upgraded the OT. Friggin beast of an amp. Damn near perfect tone for me. I'm working on cloning just the BE voicing into a stock 20H I also have.

Jose is a loosely given name to an amp that has zener diodes or transistors across a master volume pots to clip the signal and add saturation to the sound. An interesting point to note is that if the original tone without clipping engaged sucks, the tone will still suck with the zeners diodes engaged.

Note...not only is the amps mods good,it's psychodaves ability to dial in tone that makes this video good. Some people just know how to get the most out of an amp.
