I tried a pair of the JJ tesla el-844 tubes in my Egnater rebel 30 and rebias those at 35-36 on the test points at 119vac
The range on the bias pot is fine.
I used a schecter solo 6 LE with mean 90 pickups and they can be brite sounding .
I didnt get a overly brite tone but wow what a nice tone they had in the OD channel with a little grit.
No big overly glassy crispy tone but a great even EQ and a firm beautiful tone with sustain .
I had RI Mullard el84 tubes before the change and i thought they were good but my opinion is the new JJ el-844 are different sounding and smoother than the JJ el-84 12 watt tubes.
Now i think i prefere them over the RI mullard .
No sign of redplating or noise just a solid beautiful tone is what i got.
I didnt push then into OD for my roomys sake !
I wonder if they will survive a try in a blues junior as JJ said that was there goal .
I didnt expect much but was very suprized they are this good,i didnt like the regular JJ el84 that much, these are better tone wise i think.
